“high desert campground”
Let Holbrook/Petrified Forest KOA be your base camp to explore all the surrounding national parks and monuments. Easy access to I-40 gets you to many attractions, including the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park (20 minutes). Walk around the rim of the Meteor Crater, less than an hour west. Take a day trip to Monument Valley (2.5+ hours), the Grand Canyon (2.5 hours), Canyon de Chelly (1.5+ hours) or Fort Apache (1.5 hours). In Holbrook, check out the Historic Route 66 memorabilia or stop at the Hubbell Trading Post (a National Historic Site) on the Navajo Reservation. Drive through town on the original Route 66 (don't miss the Wigwam Motel sign) and shop for silver and turquoise jewelry. Back at the campground, relax and enjoy a stunning sunset as you plan your next day's adventures. Pool: May 2 - September 28. Max pull thru: 85 feet.
Great scenery with lots of attractions near by. Staff is very nice and hospitable. Campground is kept clean and is very scenic. We enjoyed our walks in the late afternoon and evening. We visited the South Rim of Grand Canyon, petrified forest, and the meteor crater. Great campsite with plenty of room.
This place was okay to stop for the night. However it is very overpriced and lacks amenities to go with the high price. Wi-Fi signal was so weak it was unusable. Pool was not well kept. Spot was so so. It was level which was nice. The dog parks were useless. Having gravel as the base just results in them being too hot to be used. Next trip across we will skip this spot.
Small crowed sites, bathroom drains were full of hair. Looked like they weren’t being cleaned much, opted not to shower at all during my stay
Wasn’t sure what to say about this park. It does look like they are trying to make some improvements. The site wasn’t level, and there were some issues. Awful dog park, and it was pitch black at night. Dead trees should be taken down. A mixed bag to be sure.
Very clean facility. Our site was ready when we got there. In the winter they close a bathroom, of course the one closest to our spot. The other bathroom was heated and was very welcome as it got down to 23 degrees overnight
Amazing place. We got the cabin with the bathroom inside and a room with bunk beds. The main room has a beautiful large queen a kitchen and table and a full bathroo. It is everything that you could dream of in a log cabin.
Great cabins for the non-camper types... we stayed in one of the well-appointed cabins which was perfect for us. We had simple kitchen amenities, comfortable beds and a clean bathroom. The picnic table on the porch was perfect for meals. We are not accustomed to campgrounds that accommodate big RV's so the gravel surroundings were a bit bleak to us. The staff made up for that by being friendly and offering great food suggestions. It was a great alternative-stay on a long road trip and the location was perfectly situated between Grand Canyon and Carlsbad Caverns, two must-do's for any roadtripper.
Perfect for the tired traveler. Was easy to make reservations after 4pm for same day accommodations. Simple pull-thru full hook-up spots. Clean camping sites. Saw they had restroom and laundry facilities.
Excellent place to stay. Arrived after hours and they made it easy to find our site. Thanks ! Toby and Ollie loved the dog park.
Nice clean campground. No grassy areas for dogs however. My dog is quite particular but she managed. Nice bathrooms. Nice camp store.
