“dinosaur statue and more”
Charles and Gazell Stewart operate the shop, off I-40 at Exit 303, where they sell petrified wood, meteorites and souvenirs. Charles built the dinosaurs out of chicken wire and concrete after watching a television documentary about Route 66.
When we showed up the place was locked up. The owner of the gas station recommended we keep driving right, over the bridge and visit another rock store. It was huge and I would recommend the same thing. We then came back by this place and it was re-opened. We went inside and found the prices were higher than the larger store across the bridge and not a good selection.
Tons of really cool petrified wood, and lots of other cool rocks too. Definitely worth it if you have kids who love rocks and gemstones. The owner was very nice and knowledgeable too.
From what I could see from the outside this place was once amazing. Unfortunately everything has been fenced off with barb wire and it looks like no one has opened this place in years.
Went by twice and it looks closed/run down. I was so excited for this place. There was only 1 dinosaur outside when I stopped by. Also the area is very hard to park in with a large RV, just FYI
Was very upset that there was a car in the gate, music on in the office but no one would answer the phone from # listed on gate & didn't seem as if anyone was there. Would've loved to buy a few things.
Wasn't open which was a bummer but we loved the dinos. Stooped by at 445pm.
Closed at 2pm. No posted hours. Cool stuff outside but not worth the stop unless your child loves dinosaurs. Then its a must.
