“Go to Hell...”

First settled in 1838 by George Reeves, Hell started out as a grist mill and general store on the banks of what is now Hell Creek. George's habit of paying local farmers with homemade whiskey made many wives to comment "He's gone to Hell again" when questioned about their husband's wherabouts during harvest time. This name stuck, and "Hell" became an official town in 1841; the rest is history. Come out and visit us, and the next time someone tells you to 'Go to Hell' you can tell them that you've already been there and had a HELL of a lot of FUN! Visit ScreamS Ice Cream & Diner, or ScreamS Souvenirs next door. Also, don't forget, you can send your mail from Hell, Michigan! Play Putt-Putt, get married, buy souvenirs, eat a great breakfast, lunch or dinner, go canoe and/kayaking, send postcards from Hell, check out the dam, lock your love in at the Lock of Love bridge or have ice cream. There is so much to do here in Hell. Hell is a biker stop along the side of the road. Very small spot but fun to visit! They have awesome ice cream and some super fun novelty items. You can send mail from hell which is fun and of course you can tell people you've been to hell and back or that hell exist and it's safer than Detroit ;)

We stopped by on a snowy day in December simply to say that we'd been to hell and it had frozen over. Not much to it. Just a gift shop and a pub.

Not much to see in "town" (if you can even call it that) other than a couple of small restaurants, an even smaller gift shop and a handful of goofy photo ops with some signs. Still, bikers always know where the good roads are and you won't be disappointed in the area if you like riding/driving narrow-ish two-lane roads in BFE.

Worth a quick stop just to say you were there. However, absolutely nothing was going on so I guess you could say it's pretty dead there....
