Fire rings are great and allow for easy grilling/cooking. Definitely worth the stop even for a couple of hours of hiking!
Absolutely beautiful park
This is a beautiful little park in southern Iowa on the Lewis and Clark historical trail. We stayed after peak times so the water and dump station were closed but our site had 50amp electrical hookup. Didn’t use the restrooms because they were closed for the season. Lots of trees and a nice overlook of the area. There’s also a boat ramp for a lake, cabins and an equestrian campground as well. Price is off-peak rate. During season it’s $16.

Heavily treed rustic state park. Quite a variety of site sizes. We didn’t use the bathhouse. Fire rings and picnic tables in good condition, as were the power boxes. Lots of trails for hiking. Seven acre lake in the park a couple miles from the campground. Very quiet and peaceful when we stayed.

Sites are very unlevel and some are extremely unlevel. Water pressure is at 20 psi which is a problem unless you have a gravity fill. Couldn’t fill tank cause pressure wasn’t enough to force water through hose and filter. Fire pit is in good condition but was full of trash. Campsite is weeds and gravel.

This is a very nice campground with spacious sites, lots of trees and super quiet at night! We made reservations using ReserveAmerica. We picked the last pull through site at the end, with only tent sites beyond us and so we were mostly all alone during our 4 day stay. Well, all except for the raccoons that came nightly to get in the garbage bins but we had our AC on so only knew about them because the camp host would come down every morning and put a board in the bin so they could get out! 😜 Our site had a huge Sycamore tree that provided shade for our trailer for all but 2 hours, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The whole campgrounds is completely surrounded by trees and there was lots of shade for those in sites on the outsider edges. The bathrooms and showers were open. The showers are free but definitely old and in need of a good cleaning. There is water access throughout the CG and a dump site right next to the bathroom/shower house. For groceries..Hamburg only has a Casey convenient store so we drove to Nebraska City, which was about 9 miles away. They had a Walmart, a small grocery store, hardware store, several fast food places and a laundry mat. Sydney is about 6 miles away but had a small grocery store and that’s about it. I would go to Nebraska City. Over all we really liked this CG and would definitely come again!

We had a couple of days here in eastern Nebraska that got into the 70's. (late November) So we had to get out one more time, and went to Waubonsie State Park in western Iowa. We were just about the only one's there, nice and quiet, Perfect!!!!! Site was clean, but we were off season so things were closed up. Lots of good roads and places to ride our bicycles. This is located in the scenic Loess Hills region of western Iowa.

A mix of reservation and walk up sites. Arrived on a Tuesday the 3rd week of June and there were many open sites. Quiet area. Bathroom/Shower houses available. Space between sites but not real level. Tables and fire pits . Located in the Loess Hills. Saw lots of wildlife. The Hackberry Emperor butterflies were in their 3rd week of swarming. Hundreds were in flight in the campground.

Lovely well-kept state park campground. Sites are a little close to together, but not terrible. After three nights of dry camping we were happy to have hot showers, a dump station, fresh water, and electricity. A beautiful overlook is worth a short walk especially at sunset. There’s also a 2 mile hike with some beautiful vistas. Birding here was incredible.

We arrived as a walk up with our 19ft Revel van. Many sites to choose from, took and envelope added our money, $16, and information and parked. We had electric at our site but didn’t need it, just a fan was perfect. Nicely wooded and quiet.
The shower and bathrooms were up to date and clean. We did not meet the camp host but knew where there site was if we had any questions
The campground is just a few miles from the main highway. Highly recommend this campsite!
