Seriously, for $12 a night there power, water, and as much fishing or crabbing as you can handle. It is not the most scenic place in the country, but all the barges floating past are pretty darn cool if you ask me. Definitely a great place to base camp while touring Creole Nature Trail.

The park is divided into a boring RV section (asphalt and gravel) that overlooks the river. It has commanding view but everyone was crammed in there when we arrived. We chose to park in the completely vacant (at the time) "tent area" which has grass and easier access to the water (not that I fish or anything) and still with a pretty good view.

The sites are all more than long enough for big-rigs, and the cleanliness of the park was second to none. I have only two gripes; 1) The overhead lights are so bright that it was not easy to sleep at times, and 2) the metal draw bridge makes a ton of noise every time a vehicle goes over it, which is every few seconds, 24 hours a day.

We weren't expecting much out of a $12 county park but I'm so glad we ended up here. You can't beat the price and we enjoyed watching the tug boats pushing the barges across the waterway.

My only complaint would be that occasionally there were loud honks from the boats. There is noise from the draw bridge as well but we don't mind the white noise.

You are just a few steps away from fishing, too.

It was a great place to plug up a few days and recharge our batteries.

The bathrooms were not in working order when we were here either.

Only knew about having to make reservations online from other reviews. Wish the reservation website was accurate, this is why I hate choosing a site online- of course we ended up on a gravel patch with no fire ring or picnic table....even tho we could have chosen from any of the other 6 avail. There is no one here to allow switching, so ur stuck with what u picked online- we did choose one that said it had these things..... I'm not happy- this is why we came here, to finally have a fire. The hookups are backwards, so our door opens right into the elec/water post & the gravel isn't the type you can walk on barefoot. We have dogs, so a patch of grass would have been nice- site #13 if you want that. Dump station not labeled, & host building says "do not disturb". NOT BEING ABLE to switch sites turned into a huge problem, when we were the ONLY ones camping here & guess where the next 2 campers parked? That's right- on EITHER SIDE OF US. REALLY?? IN a huge, empty park???? Thanks a lot. (Not their fault obviously). Not much to do here except watch the boats, fish if you paid the $60 for a non-resident fishing license ($90 if you get the salt water as well). My dogs are unhappy, I'm not thrilled, would rather be boondocking. Oh well, live & learn. (We also arrived on a Thurs which is lawn maintenance day, so the 4 large lawn mowers were overkill & quite noisy- they finally finished at 2:30pm.) Also- they might want to get a friendlier guy as the camp host- he just rolls up on his Harley & stares at us, trying to look all mean....? Why? We had to approach him & then he finally spoke "got a reservation", still no smile? Real nice....since the next day the guy down from us was beating the ^%&% out of his gf yelling "I should have f*%^&d you dead" (Yes, that's right, he yelled it three times) & the big tough biker guy just sat there watching.

It's true that there's noise from the bridge, but it didn't bother me sleeping. I sleep with white noise anyway. Scenic with the water and boat traffic. Not exactly remote, but fine.

While it does give you a place to rest your head, it’s so noisy that it’s hard to sleep. The site is right next to a bridge which makes a lot of noise when cars pass by. We registered on the phone a couple of hours before arrival and were assigned a site right underneath a street lamp after telling them we were tent camping. It felt like the sun was up all night. It’s likely easier to sleep if you’re in an RV. There were flush toilets and showers, although no soap to wash hands and the floor was very wet throughout the bathroom. We never saw the attendant, if there is one, because we arrived after hours. There is one redeeming feature though: watching boats go by on the intracoastal is really fun!

Discovered this site online and while driving the Creole Nature Trail, I pulled in to check it out. We were staying in a wall to wall RV Park in Sulphur. This is more than I expected. Overnight site had electricity (20/30/50 amp) and water that isn't bad to the taste. Clean bathrooms with one shower in each one by the camping area. Hard shell/sand surface for easy travel. Trash barrels are located throughout the camping areas.

This is a reservation online only site. sunrisereservations.com

Boat launch areas and you can fish along the shores. Cleaning stations right by the water are very convenient. This is a Manatee area, a watch sign is posted. Didn't see any, but if you do, report it to the Wildlife authorities.

Neat to watch the various barges go up and down the waterway. Just relax and enjoy. Low rumbling from a nearby plant at night, barely perceptible inside the camper and makes great white noise for sleeping

This is mid April, 2019. Skeeters are out, but a spray keeps them off you. They are heavy in the grassy areas, watch out for your pets and little ones. We had a fiddler crab staying under our camper. Class A to tent friendly. I hear it is busy with locals during holidays.

Loved this so much, we stayed another night. May stay longer. :)

Interesting place. Unusual bridge and close viewing of tugs and barges. Yes the bridge is a bit noisy, I imagine especially so if camped at that end of the park. The sites are close together and 100% gravel but I had the site's site so it wasn't too bad. The ones facing the water had covered picnic tables every third site or so. That was a nice touch and people put up tarps to block wind/sub/visibility. I would have hung my hammock. It was Thanksgiving week and I snagged the last available site. Reservations are best because it is a popular fishing place. The bathrooms are great, though only one shower stall. I'm typically a boondocker and this was a great place to recharge for awhile. 50 amp and water at the sites for a great price,

This is a very nice place to spend a few nights. Site is clean and well-maintained; Access is super easy; Host is pleasant and helpful.

We enjoyed checking out Sabine NWR and had our first ever crabbing experience there (get string and chicken at Brown’s in Hackberry and then go to one of the designated refuge areas!) We’re mentioning this because it was fun and easy and the campground has fish cleaning stations which made dealing with two dozen crabs a dream.

Yes, there is some road noise from the bridge and yes you can see plumes of exhaust from the local LNG Plant. But it’s safe and secure, well maintained and absurdly cheap for water and electric sites with dump station onsite. And we had no trouble sleeping, so the noise was much less than some places that have train traffic nearby!

It's no resort, but it was a nice spacious lot to provide a break from a stretch of beach boondocking to get cleaned up. If it were full, it might get a little cozy, but there were only six or seven other campers so plenty of room to spread out.

Looks to be primarily a fisherman's hangout - two boat ramps, fish cleaning station, right on the water. There's a small park at the end of the lot for walking dogs or setting your kids loose on swings and slides while you do other crap.

Hookups worked. Verizon 4G good. Everyone kept to themselves. I don't even think the place was staffed the couple days I was there but they have a sign to pay online.

As others said, it can get noisy. The big barges cruise through day and night. You can hear the rattle of the steel bridge when cars go by, but as a former city dweller, that didn't lose me a wink. Also, you will not find convenient amenities nearby. The closest grocery store was twenty minutes away, and larger chains about forty...otherwise you're shopping at gas stations.

Still giving it four stars because those are negatives I don't really care much about.

Not far off I-10 Lake Charles and Sulfur. Parish park and great Value, clean however there is the draw bridge. Noise from the grates can effect you if you pick site close to it. This a great place to see the barges coming up and down the intercostal. We likes it .
