"n Roadtrip in the USA, it was unthinkable not to stop at Yosemite NP. Not being able to get a place on Yosemite Valley campsites we fell back on hogdon. Excellent experience but watch out for pitches 10 to 23 on a slope. The car can not be parked on the site but on a parking upstream. The center of the camp-site is rather family and noisier whereas the excentres sites are much quieter but less accessible. It was not a problem. There are many trails nearby, far from the crowds of Yosemite Valley. We recommend this campsite but not at any location."

Yosemite has no boondocking, so you reserve in Yosemite Valley a year ahead of time, or you stay at Crane Flat or Hogdon Meadows. It's a 16 mile drive to Yosemite Valley from the campground. But it's a pretty drive. The campground is very hilly. Bring leveling blocks. We used both sets of ours. The layout doesn't make a lot of sense and you would be hard pressed to get a larger 24'+ rig in here. It served our purpose. But it was hot, dusty and crowded. Not really our style. Oh, and hope you dont need to make a cell call. No service except in a few limited spots in Yosemite Valley.
Best part? Tom, the Forest Service entry kiosk worker who was just great. Really nice guy.
Note - our rate is $13 because we have a senior pass. Usual is $26.

It’s decent. Bathrooms were worn but mostly clean, no dump station or water fill station but potable water in the bathroom. Very VERY dusty as all sites are dry dirt that causes a dust clouds even walking around. Forget clean. Dust will travel in open windows and get into everything! It is camping but we’ve never experienced such dirt and dust. If there was gravel or wood chips or grass it would help, but it’s just dirt. Anyway, it’s well kept and pretty, just be prepared for dust and a long drive to every attraction. The only way we’d ever return would be snagging a reservation in the valley.

This is a first come, first serve campground, however, we had the pick of the place - we were the only ones there the first night! The bathroom is heated and has flushing toilets. There are two bathroom buildings, but one was locked for the season. We stayed in #47 because of its close proximity to the bathroom building and the ability to pull our trailer up close to the campsite. The campground has over 80 campsites, many that have a shared parking location and then walk (20-30 feet) to the actual campsite. The sites are stacked very closely together, which is why, although I said we would camp here again, we would only come back in the winter.

Nice older campground. Few sites can handle bigger rigs. About a 45 minute drive into the valley.
