Stayed a couple of night at the park, using the campgrounds at the Grenada Lake spillway. The park itself is in need of quite a bit of repair currently with heavy flood waters recently due to rains, understand that Grenada Lake is a flood control lake system controlled by the Army Corp of Engineers. I am from the area and only know of a couple of times this happened in about 25 years. The water side sites are very clean and generally level. Be aware that most sites have a shared power source, so be prepared, unlike me, to have a 25-30 ft. extension cord for your power source. You will need about 25 water hose in many cases. The older sites are towards the back of the park and are lower, some tend to hold water so be sure to ask before reserving a site to the back. A lot of trees, plenty of shade. All have fire pits and grill with table.
Water side gets you great seats on the rocks for fishing for crappie, bream, bass and catfish within 30 ft of site.
Some potholes to watch out for at the entrance but park is generally clean thanks to great hosts.

The site and campgrounds are very pretty. The grounds need to be better maintained. The bathrooms were so nasty with a years worth of spiders and spiderwebs!! You could make a horror movie in the bathroom! But the showers had hot water and worked properly. They were not clean though. What a great place if they would keep it up better.

This was our 2nd stay here. It’s a nice location on the west out west. The GPS can be confusing…..it leads to the state park but not specifically to the campground. There are so many wrong turns that you can take, which can be frustrating at the end of a travel day. Might was to check it out on Google Earth before you travel. The campground is big, nicely spread out and well maintained. The site pad was not very wide though. The area is used primarily for fishing, which leads to SO MANY PELICANS. And vultures. They didn’t bother us at all. They were after the fish. In town, you can find most anything you need. Jake & Rips is a local must for BBQ.

Nice view. Everything else is crap.

The ranger doesn't exist.

Bathrooms and showers on our side are closed despite it being spring break and sold out.

Distance to electric and water hookups is ridiculous and required two fifty foot water hoses and two rv extension cords, the three items together can be purchased from Walmart in town for about $150 dollars.

Entire campground subject to unexpected flooding due to being in the spillway of the dam so you have to be prepared for that at all times. There's no warning that this could happen other than old timers and seasonals that know and tell campers.

My campsite was ponding for about twelve hours.

There's no trash dumpster except at the exit.

Obviously no maintenance is done. There's a hole where the sanitary basket should be in the ladies room (the one a quarter mile from my campsite, that was open).

No ranger to enforce the quiet hours or anything approaching law here.

They don't mow, there's thigh-high daisies growing as you come into the camping area.

You can't Google maps this campground and there's little to no signage.

We stayed two nights in site 104 and then moved to site 55 to have better internet service for remote working. I felt bad for the ranger/park host. He has a lot on his plate with no help. It's a sizable park, and it seems Mississippi would rather throw money at things other than campgrounds. This is the second state park in MS we stayed that had run-down, old bathrooms (the other being Nachez). The women's bathroom had a collection of bugs, no hand soap, paper towels or toilet paper. Both water connections leaked and formed wet, soggy areas outside the camper. You do need long hoses and cords. There are limited garbage receptacles. The dump station had a cut water hose both times we used it (used our own hose). Lots of garbage on the ground. The park could be so nice if it got more TLC. People who stay at the park usually do so for the incredible fishing, not the squalid conditions of the park.
