“some good Southern style cookin’”
Brick Street Cafe was founded on September 1, 1995, by the marvelously talented, beautiful, and dare we say..thin, Sara Wilson. The building was initially a belt factory, where people came, from far and near, to make belts for an honest living. Nowadays, people still travel from great distances to the old historical landmark, but not to work, mind you, but to eat some of the finest Southern cooking they have ever had. Now, legend has it that the old wooden statue of Abe Lincoln that is out front of Brick Street will actually tear up and start crying at the very mention of Sara’s Famous Sweet Potato pie or “Love Muffin”. This old building is part of history. The floors creek, the lights flicker, the pipes rattle when you cut off the water too fast, but it’s cozy, quaint, and has a down home feelin’. You almost feel like you could just come in, take your shoes off and sit down to some good Southern style cookin’, just like your grandma used to make, ....and you can. Except for the “takin’ off your shoes” part, nothing personal but you aren’t the only person eating here and not everyone appreciates the fragrant aroma of dirty old feet while they’re eating.
