A playful railroad theme is just a hint of all the fun you'll have at this one-of-a-kind KOA. The campground has 13 authentic railroad boxcars, club cars and cabooses scattered across 55 acres - and you can spend the night in one! With its own boat launch and slips, this KOA is a perfect base camp for boaters and anglers eager to get out on Lake Oconee, the region's sparkling jewel. The campground's private white sand beach and two swimming pools also make a big splash with the kids. A 4,000-square-foot clubhouse allows groups to enjoy the lakefront setting. Check out Greensboro's shops and historic attractions. Pool: May 31 - November 1. Max pull thru: 42 feet.

Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on February 20, 2024Site is not as advertised. Approach road is narrow with deep erosion on the sides. Site listing was concrete, but site was dirt. Site 108 is not level, has deep ruts. Picnic table was dirty and covered with debris. Check in was OK, but park office closes at 5:00 even during summer peak season. Bathrooms were far away from site, and not all bathrooms have showers. Lots of long term residents, some with fixed models on sites. Will not return.

I have mixed feelings about this park, so I probably would not stay here again. We are Travel Resorts of America members which limits our booking window, but because the park is also part of KOA, trying to get one of the lake view or patio sites is nearly impossible. And I would say this park is not big rig friendly, very few sites can accommodate a 40 ft rig, and 50 amps is limited. There are a lot of long-term owners, but most of those sites are well-maintained. Our site was very challenging to level. The pools were nice, but the liners could definitely use a good cleaning. The laundry room was clean.

We used a certificate from Travel Resorts of America. Our stay was in January of 2024, very cold. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Roads into campsite areas are narrow and hilly, and tight. Amenities are in need of repairs or refreshing. Showers were clean, laundry was clean but some machines were in need of repair.

This campground has gotten a lot of bad press in the reviews here, but we enjoyed it. We had a very nice spot right on the lake, which certainly added to our experience. We had no problem getting level, though I saw several sites that may have presented more difficulty. However, the hilly terrain around the lake makes that necessary. Our spot had plenty of space compared to lots of other places where we have stayed. The check-in went quickly and efficiently. We used our Coast-to-Coast membership and had none of the extra charges we've had at other CtoC stops. It also accepts KOA (we have not stayed at any other KOAs, so no comparisons there) and Travel Resorts of America, and compares favorably to the 4-5 other TRA campgrounds we've visited. I also found Lake Oconee an interesting small city with a lot of growth evident in the area. Anyway, just wanted to add a positive review here.

Old, run down, many no level sites. Polite outside staff. No so for the inside staff. Not as advertised. Very bad experience.
