“Are you ready to prowl”
The Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful 700 acre urban wildlife refuge featuring live animal exhibits, educational displays, miles of hiking/skiing trails and various wildlife viewing opportunities. It is the largest park in the Green Bay Park system and home to the second largest wildlife rehabilitation program in Wisconsin, caring for more than 4,500 orphaned and injured animals annually. The Sanctuary attracts hundreds of thousands of bird watchers, families and other visitors from across the USA and many foreign countries each year. They come to explore and discover nature while learning the importance of preserving natural landscapes. First established in 1936 as a site for waterfowl rehabilitation, the Sanctuary has grown to offer environmental education programs to over 10,000 students, nature walks, urban fishing, summer camps, cross country skiing and much more. We fed and petted a deer and I witnessed a small pack of relaxing wolves howl and howl. One of the best experiences.
This was our favorite stop. It was a perfect FREE place for the kids to explore and there was so much! Animal exhibits, play areas, trails, waterfall, duck feeding, hands on nature center. It was awesome. It felt like a mini-zoo.
Kids loved it, we loved it. Nice relaxing stroll through tree shaded areas and watery landscapes. Plenty of waterfowl with their recent hatchlings. Kids were able to feed the geese and ducks. Worth every minute of the 2.5 hour stroll.
We came here as a stop during a long road trip. PERFECT stop for my family. The kids loved seeing the animals that would come up to them, and playing at the small parks and in the observation station as well. We spent 2.5 hours here. I highly encourage stopping here if you can.
So beautiful!! A lovely nature stop with lots of trail options short and long. A dollar for corn to feed the ducks in the bird sanctuary area. (Watch out for gimpy goose, he's not shy) The owls are fricking adorable and the birds of prey are so impressive to see up close. Also, lots of poke stops and gyms 😉
