“art museum”
Every month, the Grand and Tower Galleries host a variety of art, cultural, historical and educational exhibitions that are free to the public. Offering a mix of exhibits, one month we might display a traveling Smithsonian exhibition, the next month, a contemporary art show. Directly behind the Grapevine Galleries are the Grapevine Museums, located in Ted R. Ware Plaza. These museums give us a glimpse into the past. The Settlement to City Museums allow visitors to discover what life was like over 100 years ago for urban Texans in a small township. The museum plaza is home to two 19th century pioneer homes and a school house. Although the Keeling House was extant to the site, the other buildings were moved to the site from around the Grape Vine Prairie. They were relocated to the corner of Church Street and Hudgins Street and restored to create this museum area. Since Grapevine was an area hub for commerce, the plaza and the museums located there speak to life on the Grape Vine Prairie and to the larger story of settling Texas. The three museums, The Donald Schoolhouse Museum, The Keeling House Museum and the Grapevine Cotton Ginner's Museum feature educational exhibits, hands-on activities and a collection of artifacts dating back to the 19th century.
