Thunderbird Lodge

Built in the late 1960’s the Thunderbird Lodge sits directly on the rim of the Grand Canyon. For guest’s seeking a more contemporary lodging option, this lodge is a great choice.  The guest rooms have a comfortable modern ambiance and are all similar in size and amenities, and are designated canyon-side and street-side relating to the view. Many guests choose Thunderbird due to its prominent location in the center of the historic district. Thunderbird Lodge is walking distance to restaurants, gifts shops, Kolb Studio, Vercamps Visitor Center and the Bright Angel Trail Head.  It’s a great choice for active guests as it is located directly on the Rim Trail. This trail spans from Hermits Rest to the Kaibab Trailhead, approximately 12.8 miles. From your room you can hike in either direction.  For example if you hike towards the west to Trail View overlook it is about 1 mile or to the East to Yavapai Geology Museum it is approximately 2 miles. The views along this trail are exceptional. Please Note: Guests staying at Thunderbird Lodge will need to check-in at the Bright Angel Lodge Front Desk. Situated directly on the canyon rim, many of the rooms at Thunderbird Lodge have partial canyon views available, called canyon-side rooms. The rooms have either one king bed or two queen beds. Guest room amenities include; full bath, in-room Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, flat screen television with satellite TV, telephone, hair dryer and safe. Thunderbird Lodge offers accessible rooms.
