“Quality and Passion”
In 1999, Craig and Vicki Leuthold established Maryhill Winery and set out to produce premier wines on the land adjacent to where Hill sought to fulfill his dream years before... Originally hailing from Spokane, Wash, Craig and Vicki Leuthold cashed in their corporate careers and followed their dream of starting a winery to Goldendale, Wash. Located at the Southern tip of the Columbia Valley appellation, the area is not only an area of unsurpassed natural beauty; its warm climate, Walla Walla silt loam soil resting on remnants of the Missoula flood and steady breezes make it an ideal site for growing wine grapes. In 2000, the Leutholds began construction on their winery just west of Maryhill Museum on a bluff overlooking Gunkel Vineyard, one of the state's oldest and most established vineyard sites. The Gunkel family has successfully farmed the fertile lands surrounding Maryhill for four generations, growning world-class wine grapes used by the Leutholds and many other Washington state wine producers today. Opened in 2001, the family-run Maryhill Winery has been carefully grown into one of the largest and most-visited wineries in Washington state, and a true destination for exceptional wines, scenic views and live summer music. Great wines are our inspiration. For us, winemaking isn't about lifted noses or highbrow personalities. It's about sourcing the best grapes and treating them with passion, patience and balance. From Cabernet Sauvignon to Chardonnay, Merlot and Malbec to Gewurztraminer, our wines are the perfect example of the affordable quality and diversity available from Washington's AVAs.We produce nearly 40 award-winning varietals and blends and have been recognized as "Washington Winery of the Year" and "Best Gorge Attraction" for our superb wines and stay-for-a-day activities. Enjoy a wine flight in our friendly and spacious Tasting or Reserve Room, take in live music and sweeping views from the Tuscan-style terrace or play a round of bocce on one of our four world-class courts - trust us, you'll feel right at home.
Winery along the Columbia River with views of the river and gorge. We sat on the terrace, in the shade, it was such a hot day. Beautiful presentation of their wine flight: 7 samples of whites and... Read more
I got a bad feeling about this place when I got out of my car and a woman walked by muttering about how she waited an hour for some carryout food. Hmmm. We sat out on the patio (great views!) and... Read more
Maryhill feels more like a restaurant than a winery since the venue is very large and serves lots of food options. We sat outside and had to walk up to their outdoor host area to place an order.... Read more
