“Built by Jim & Peggy Cutler during the winter and spring of 1929!”
The Pacific Way Bakery & Cafe is located in the original Cutler commercial building in the heart of downtown Gearhart, Oregon. The small, family-friendly oceanfront community of Gearhart (population 1000 or so) is located on the northern Oregon coast about seventy miles west of Portland, Oregon. Gearhart is famous for it's beautiful, uncrowded 18 mile long beach, the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi, and for being the childhood home of food legend James Beard. Built by Jim & Peggy Cutler during the winter and spring of 1929, the building began life as a mom & pop grocery store with an owner's apartment in the back. The present building on the location is the first of three buildings the Cutlers built over the years in downtown Gearhart, the other two being the present Gearhart Market and the duplex directly south of the cafe building. Upstairs was a six room (or three apartment) rooming house, originally used as a bachelor's lodgings for loggers in the Gearhart area.
Try a variety of seafood fare, along with a number of other lunch and dinner items, treats and more!
