“the Garden of Hope cemetery”
Named as one of the top 10 haunted cemeteries in the United States on many lists, The Garden of Hope Cemetery in Gautier Mississippi has more than its fair share of unusual stories that go with the graves that are there. Garden of Hope in Gautier, Mississippi is the burial site of a family that was brutally murdered. Visitors have reported seeing ghost children playfully running through the graveyard with the sounds of their giggles echoing through the air. This graveyard is reportedly under lock.
To the person saying it doesn't exist. You have MI...which is Michigan. MS....is mississippi.
This place does exist, plug in 2813 Chamberlain Road, Gautier MI 39553 USA .
The cemetery name is wrong though. 'Historic Franklin Cemetery Est. 1897' (Via Google maps & street view)
The road to it looks very long (about half a mile back) from Chamberlain it self. there's a clearing and you can see something there but I couldn't zoom in enough but I'm positive its your haunted graveyard.
I just did a whole bunch of research and it appears that actual testimonials from residents of Gautier indicate there is no such "Garden of Hope Cemetery" in this town. There was a possible suggestion that the cemetery may actually be located in nearby Ocean Springs and the confusion is due to a name change in the past. However, some of the main attractions, such as this "mausoleum" are not at this cemetery either.
I would definitely mark this one off the list. What a shame.
@kyle.sweeney.581: Please tell me more? My bf and I are thinking about stopping there.
Locals highly offended! Do not go! Almost died. Very scary and cemetery not worth it.
This does exist, it is not seen from the road plus it is called Franklin Cemetery. It is behind a chain. Most, if not all buried there are African American. I do live in Gautier...
Nothing special
Beautiful spot, but not maintained so be careful when walking. The address leads to a small road; no gate. There is a spot to park when you drive in. The old trees are incredible, and many graves from a range of dates. Go into the bushes carefully to see more of the headstones. There are a LOT that are covered in brush and trees. Definitely worth the stop!
As a lifelong resident of Gautier, I can tell you that the graveyard is real, but the murder story sounds made up. This very small section of town is referred to as "Ghost town" by most. They call it this because of the cemetery located there. Yes, it is reported to be haunted. There is a park of sorts in the middle of the neighborhood where the residents hang out. This is the "old" section of Gautier. The people there are nice, but I wouldn't go there at night since you probably wouldn't want strangers roaming your neighborhood at night either. I find the story about some old man who patrols the graveyard at night comical, like its a Scooby doo place or something.
It’s called the franklin historic cemetery. It is a spooky road leading to it. Surrounded by a swamp so lots of flies and bugs. Mostly modern markers are there I.e. 2003, 1999. If you are nearby it’s worth it.
