Jawbone Flats Trail is a moderate 3.5 mile trail at an elevation of 1,900 feet. This trail travels through old-growth with western hemlock and Douglas-firs. There is an old mining camp with abandoned buildings and equipment. Directions from Salem: Turn north off Hwy. #22 onto North Fork Road where sign indicates "Little North Santiam Recreation Area". Follow road for 21 miles to gate (at 15.5 miles road will become #2209.) Public traffic is not permitted beyond the gate. Follow the road 3.5 miles on the road until you come to the old mining camp-Jawbone Flats. Seasonal Information: Normally Open: Year-round
