“charm of yesterday, convenience of tomorrow”

The historic El Rancho Hotel provides a unique Southwest Experience.  The El Rancho Hotel was a home away from home for movie stars throughout the 1930s to 1940s who filmed Westerns in the area. Rates are competitive with the big-name motels in the area. The 49er Lounge in the El Rancho was listed as one of the Top 50 bars in the USA by Esquire Magazine. Whether you are in the mood for a Margarita after a long day exploring, excellent Mexican cuisine, or a John Wayne Burger, the El Rancho has a meal for you. Ortega’s Jewelry Store  in the El Rancho offers access to some of the best American Indian Artwork available.  All of the pieces  are handmade by local artists. Navajo jewelry, Zuni Kachina Dolls, and handwoven rugs are offered for purchase.

This is a fun inexpensive place to stop. The room was very dated which could be cool But the bed was not comfortable. The food was ok but the bar was fun.

Currently renovating many of the rooms and debris and tools everywhere in the halls. The room we were given was right in the middle of it even a worker said we working. We decided not to stay and return when everything is done. Call to check on status nothing on website about construction. Staff friendly and helpful.

Fun place for a visit. We didn't get to eat here but did walk around a look at all of the historical items. Will head back someday.

This was a fun place to stay. Paid for a run of the house room and got upgraded for free to the bridal suite because of being on our honey moon! This was a great place to stay!

We just stayed one night, but enjoyed every minute of it! It's an old, historic hotel and there's so much to look at in. The gentleman who checked us in was so friendly, he knew everyone and seemed to love getting to see everyone coming in and out. The rooms are small, ours had only a small shower. The beds aren't as comfortable as big chain hotels, but it was all just part of the charm to us. We went to the 49er Lounge for a couple of margaritas and a small dinner. The chips and homemade salsa, and enchiladas were delicious. The little gift shop has tons of beautiful southwest jewelry and art to check out. We would definitely go back and stay again.

I loved staying here with my toddler on our Route 66 trip. It's seriously like stepping back in time. It's dated but in a really fun, nostalgic way. I also had dinner here, enchiladas, and they were pretty good. The lobby is insane. Highly recommend spending the night here or at least stopping for a photo-op.

Did not know it was haunted until we were checking out. My wife had ‘an experience’ during the night. Had they told us this before we checked in she wouldn’t have allowed me to book the room. Lol It’s a really nice place and was clean and comfortable. I ain’t fraid of no ghosts. Lol

I was so excited about staying here on our road trip because of the historic charm that I saw on their website. However, we were not given a room in the hotel, but in the motel across the parking lot. There is a HUGE difference! The motel is right next to a stoplight that must require all cars to rev up their engines before it will change to green..that’s what we heard all night. It’s not like we could sleep anyway, the air conditioner was not working, so we were sweating to death. Oh, and just like the historic charm, there is no WiFi in the motel, only the hotel. Needless to say, we couldn’t get out of there fast enough in the morning. I did take a minute to explain my extreme disappointment in our stay. I explained that I booked a room in their hotel based on their website and I was put in a dumpy motel room with none of the amenities that I paid for. The woman apologized and offered me and my family free breakfast, which I declined. I was done and just wanted to get out of there! Both employees that I talked to were very nice (but I still ended up with a crappy room) and the lobby was very neat to see. Those are the only reasons why I gave 2 stars.

AWFUL service. Was sat in back corner of restaurant despite numerous open tables up front. Sat for 15 minutes and was never even asked if we wanted a drink. Walked out and went to gift shop and had to explain to teller two times how to take 20% of of an item! Very much a tourist trap.
