“The Largest Gypsum Cave in the World”
The highlight of the 200-acre Alabaster Caverns State Park is the ¾ mile cavern formed of alabaster, a rare form of gypsum, making it the largest natural gypsum cave in the world that is open to the public. Daily guided tours of Alabaster Cavern leave promptly on the hour from 9am-4pm. For safety reasons, a maximum of 40 visitors are allowed on each tour. A fee is charged for the tour. The cavern recently underwent an extensive lighting overhaul. Group tour reservations are required at least two weeks in advance. Reservations must be made by calling the park office at least two weeks in advance in order to receive a group tour discount.

The cavern tour was lots of fun, and the bats were neat to watch at dusk! We went on top of the Mesa campground playground to see them. No mosquitoes because of the nice bats! We were there mid August and mid week. We had the tour and the campsite all to ourselves. Lots of mature trees. Out in the middle of nowhere. No stickers! Really enjoyed this campground. No sewer hookups, but a pretty nice dump station. We paid at the tour office which closes at 5. Not sure where to pay after hours, the next morning at 8? I think we had 3 bars of us cellular.

We came to Freedom to visit some family and stayed here with our 43" trailer. It was large for the campground but fit fine in the handicapped spot. We were the only campers so no issues,.The sites have electricity and water. We dumped on the way out although we could not pull through the dump station due to the tight turn and length of our rig. We had to pull in, do our business and back out.
However campground and staff were awesome. We did the tour of the caverns and it was fascinating. Will definitely come back.

A small but nice and clean campground. Only 10 sites at the Mesa campground with 30 amp service. We stayed in site #9. Plenty of room for our 30 ft TT. Not made for big rigs, only back in sights. Not sure I would try and put put much more than 35 ft trailer in the sites. There may be room for bigger, but you might have to park your rig in the cavern parking lot. There is a bath and shower house, quarters for the showers. Cavern tour is right next to campground and it is well worth the $10 adult admission.

We stayed at mesa campground site #6 for 3 nights with our high wall pop up. Campground has 10 sites with W/E hookup. Dump site close by. Site was level. RV sites have a grill and picnic table but no fire pits. Only the tent sites have fire pits. Bath/shower facilities were really clean and bug free. Showers are no longer coin operated with plenty of hot water. Little playground for kids. We had 2 bars on T-Mobile. The last night we had wind gust of 20 plus mph, which is kind of expected being out towards the panhandle. We went on the 1 hour cave tour for $10 per adult and rates for other ages vary. Children 5 and under were free and it was worth it. There was a collapse at the entrance to the cave in 2018 so now the only way to access the cave is through the exit. Over all nice quiet campground and would stay here again.

The campground is small and the sites, while paved and level with electric and water, are quite close together. The restrooms and showers are well maintained and the state park folks are nice as can be. The real attraction here is the trails and the caves. Lots of fun to explore!

We stayed for one night while traveling across Oklahoma. We stayed here 20+ years ago and were looking forward to seeing the area again. We arrived in the late-afternoon just before the last cave tour and were able to park at our site and walk over to take the tour. We camped on a Monday evening and there was only one other RV and a couple of tent campers. The campground was very quiet and peaceful.

this location is perfectly situated along the Cimarron river with a really nice cave complex that can be toured with a guide for only $10. The RV pads are very flat and concrete. The sceneries really nice and there’s a whole bunch of hiking trails all around I didn’t use the showers but the bathrooms are really nice. I would certainly stay here again.
