We weren’t that bad, but it took a bit of maneuvering. We had full hookups. Better bring extra long sewer hoses as locations were not convenient. Bring groceries. No stores in area. If you want to get away from it all. This is the place for you. ESPECIALLY if you ATV. Most folks are very courteous and drive slowly around the CG trying not to disturb. But still if you want tranquility... choose your site carefully.

This KOA has seen it’s better day. There is no trail to the beach. I asked the office where the trail to the beach was and if it was marked. She said she didn’t know. She’s never been on the trail. We found which appeared to be an old ATV trail that appeared to have connected to an old over grown, filled with down trees trail but we couldn’t find a beach as it listed on the map. The park does overlook the lake though. The horse shoe pits are all overgrown with weeds and they haven’t been used in years.

Fort McCoy KOA is probably a great place to stay for people who like off-roading. The trails of the Ocala National Forest were straight across the street from the camp entrance. For those who dont its not worth it. The camp was literally in the middle of nowhere. There was nothing to do or nowhere to go. However, as an overnight stop on the way from east coast to west coast Florida it worked well. We have a video about this campground on our YouTube channel - Summertime RV Rovers. It is called "From Savannah Through St Augustine To Florida. Please check for yourself. We camped at Stagecoach RV Park in a Motorhome. We camped at Fort McCoy / Lake Oklawaha KOA Holiday in a Motorhome.

The campground is a little outdated, but fits the needs of the off road riding community. It is a very large campground situated above the lake. There is a trail to the "beach", but it is a short hike downward that drops you at the small sandy shore of the lake. At one time it looked to have a dock and there is a small concrete building that probably was a rental shop or concession stand. The actual campground has mostly ATV and SXS riders staying there. All day the toys will be coming and going. We took our RZR and played on the sandy trails in the forest. It is massive! You have to watch the blind curves as the trial is two way! As for the grounds of the park, it is ok. The pool area and clubhouse look to be newer. Still needs some grounds keeping done. The trash bins are somewhat far from the front. The sites a very large and spacious. The location is 11 miles off a small highway East of Ft. Mc Coy FL. If you need supplies, stop in Silver Springs or Ft. Mc Coy before coming as there is nothing out here. All in all, the park serves the needs for us who need a place to have full hook ups and be connected to the Ocala National Forest. Remember to bring extra sewer and extra water hoses as they can be far away (up to 30 feet). It is a 3.25 star park.
