On the west end of the island, situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River, beachgoers will find Folly Beach County Park. Lifeguards are on duty seasonally along a beautiful beachfront designated swimming area. Folly Beach County Park was established in 1982 and had served over 100,000 visitors per year providing parking, beach access, rental equipment, concessions, and lifeguards for those visiting the South Carolina coast.
