Southern Comfort RV Resort

The park is in a pretty shady part of town and spaces are pretty close together BUT is in a really great location for exploring south Florida. Key Largo is 25 minutes away, Key West 2.5 hours, Everglades National Park is 17 minutes away and you can be in Miami Beach in 50 minutes.

Trust me when I say it's not a very pretty park and the surrounding area is pretty rough around the edges but if you are looking for a good base camp to explore South Florida, it's perfect for the price.

This is by far, the campground with the WORST facilities we have stayed in, while camping around the USA for 6 months. The bathrooms look like prison bathrooms, the water leaks out of the handles on the toilets when flushed, the showers are full of mold, with curtains that only cover 3/4 of the door frame, theft of toilet paper is rampant (probably because the facilities are so nasty, honestly) and so, as of today, guests must provide their own toilet paper. I wouldn’t even let our kids shower or use the toilets here. Absolutely gross. When we spoke to the manager, they seemed despondent and unconcerned.
The sites are small and parking a big rig in here is a challenge, to say the least. Anything 36 ft or longer would is tough.
The long term population here seems happy to just have a tiki bar. 🤷‍♀️
Location is in a sketchy part of town and there’s no privacy/security fencing around the property except a low, guardrail-looking apparatus that’s easily hopped over or walked under. We were warned by 3 people as soon as we arrived, to lock up our things.
It’s only 50 minutes to a great beach in Islamorada but be prepared to use your RV for all your needs.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! My wife and I have been RVing full time for over 2 yrs and have never had as horrible of an issue with a campground as this one!!

They don't answer their phones. If you leave a voicemail they never call you back. (Although, they told us later they have record of all calls and VM in their email...)

Once you magically can get a hold of them, it is a $200 deposit to reserve a 1 month stay. They said it would be $50 cancellation fee to cancel. Easy peasy.

We booked many months ahead. Closer to our book date we called to cancel, or reschedule. We called. And called. And called. Finally got a hold of someone and they said they will talk to the manager and call us back. Never did.

Called again, spoke to someone else, same thing.

Called again and again. Finally get a hold of someone and she was SO RUDE on the phone. She said she had the option to refund $150 but she's not going to do that now. She was unbelievably rude and said she would check the call logs and to call her back the next day.

Called again the next day as requested. Called again. And again.

Finally got a hold of someone again and she was literally SCREAMING AND YELLING on the phone saying that they will not refund the money, and that they also will not reschedule us. They now REFUSE to give us our money back (would be absolutely okay with $150 instead of the $200) and they also REFUSE to allow us to reschedule. She was literally LAUGHING saying that she will never refund us our money or let us reschedule.

I have NEVER in my life dealt with such rude and horrible people!!

TLDR: They don't answer the phone and stole our money. After reviewing their website & policies our bank said that it is 100% clearly fraud, but because we wrote a check (how they wanted the deposit) nothing can be done. DO NOT BOOK HERE!
