“A Tropical Paradise in Florida”
Captiva Island rests in quiet privacy in the Gulf of Mexico, at the end of the road north of Sanibel Island. It has become the preferred vacation destination (as well as permanent residence) for discerning Floridians and other well-informed travelers. For Captiva Island offers what few other Florida beaches can: luxurious accommodations in the midst of unspoiled, natural beauty. This is also a favorite spot for Family Reunions, and Captiva was the #1 rated "Romantic Beaches in the U.S. and Nearby" by Amy Ziff, Travelocity's Editor-at-Large. Captiva Island is subtropical, and enjoys fine weather all year thanks to the moderating waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The peaceful barrier island includes a wildlife sanctuary and miles of white sand beaches. Captiva Island is unlike any other tropical island. It has no hotels, and that's definitely part of the charm.
Always used to visit my grandparents on Captiva Island! AMAZING beach, and the sunsets are one of a kind.
Despite the crowd being at the island's beach, Captiva Island gives you the sense of serenity and privacy due to its beautiful surroundings.
If you have children that like shell collecting, then they will become busy choosing their preferable shells from the shore (big variety of shells).
We went there by boat and stayed overnight at the Club Resort. Personally, I enjoyed the pool and the sunset views. If you have children and you want to spend a romantic evening/night then don't worry because there is a playground at the Club to keep them busy.
My boyfriend took me here on my birthday. The whole place was just romantic. The pristine beaches are so majestic. The water is crystal clear and the sand is not so shelly, giving it an almost fine feel. The whole island has this laid back feel to it, making its visitors have a very relaxed time while in this tropical paradise. There was a few people walking on the shore which made the whole place a lot less crowded vibe to it. There were several houses and condos which the guests could rent. We opted to go for one of the condos. The best part was the balcony facing the beach. The view from it couldn't be more perfect.
