“Nestled on the Banks of the St. Lawrence”
Wellesley Island State Park has the largest camping complex in the Thousand Islands region. Secluded wilderness sites nestled along the banks of the St. Lawrence River are accessible only by foot or boat. Within this rustic paradise, fishing is excellent--particularly for muskie in autumn. To accommodate boaters, the park has a full service marina and four boat launches. A sandy beach on the river offers great swimming and sunbathing and there is a recreation barn and the 9-hole Wellesley Island State Park Golf Course on the Island. One of the main attractions of the park is the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, which includes a museum, varied habitats such as wooded wetlands, 3 miles of shoreline and open granite outcrops, and miles of trails for hiking, cross-country skiing and nature education. The Nature Center provides educational and recreational programs for all ages. One special feature at the nature center is the 1/4 mile accessible trail that includes access to picnic tables and the seasonal butterfly house. Archery is allowed in designated areas by permit only. For the less rugged camper, there are regular tent/trailer sites and a cabin colony, including facilities for group camping and twelve vacation rentals, which will enable you to enjoy the sunset from the porch of a fully outfitted cottage. You can choose a two or three bedroom cottage with all the comforts of home, including a bathroom with shower, kitchen with refrigerator and stove, bedding, cooking utensils, dishes, glassware, silverware, etc. Outside each vacation rental, a picnic table and ground grill are provided for meals and evening campfires.

Drive or bike to the beach. Great playgrounds. From what we could see the full hookup section had very little shade. The drive over the bridge onto the island is fun.

This is a nice park in a great location. We stayed here to be close to the Thousand Island sites, and it is certainly well-situated for that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also had a problem with the electric on our pedestal, and a repair tech was quickly dispatched and the problem was fixed promptly.
It's a pleasant enough state park, and is very popular, but it appeared to be a prime destination for large families and multi-family groups so there was a lot of activity going on constantly. We were hoping for a bit more peaceful quiet. This wasn't the park for that, though it might have been due to our site location. It's a pretty setting though, so it has its charms.
Be aware that you must cross a bridge to access Wellesley Island and this state park. The cost was over $10 for the RV and toad (one direction only), and 3.25 for just the toad each time we to the mainland and back.

We tent camped there last year during The first week of August. We had a site with no shade and it was warm, but that’s our only complaint. The park was very clean, the bathrooms and bath houses were well maintained, updated and plentiful. There were playgrounds for young kids, an arcade, a great beach and plenty of places to launch kayaks. The St. Lawrence was a little too windy to do much kayaking and we won’t be bringing them this year. You need bikes because the park is very large and it’s the easiest way around. The camp store was great and had everything except alcohol. There are no other stores on the island so you have to cross the bridge to get beer or things not sold at the camp store. Overall an awesome place to camp and we have reserved another week for this coming summer, but this time with our new travel trailer. There are sites for every size and shape rig.

We stayed here the week before Memorial Day- early season.
We had a site with electric- the loop we were In had mostly travel trailers. There are other loops that will accommodate smaller trailers but have no electricity. The loops with full hookups are all in an open field with no shade.
We had a view of the water and beautiful sunsets every night.
Bath houses are immaculate and showers are free.
There is a beautiful new playground and the beach area looked nice even tho it was closed the week we were there.
Kayaking is amazing In eel bay- use the kayak launch they provide.
No cel service for AT&T, but as soon as we left the park we picked up a signal near the little store/diner as you are leaving the state park.
Take an afternoon to go tour boldt castle.

Stayed in Loop F which has full hook ups, but no shade. The sites are spacious and mostly not shaded.
The campground is a little plain- no real hiking to be had, but there is a small beach and boat launch.
We work full time from the RV using T-mobile and AT&T cell data, but the park receives cell signal from Canada, which our provider limits our high speed data when abroad. With video calls and database work, that didn’t last too long and we had to spend much time on the other side of the island where we could get US networks

Nice place to camp, lots of wildlife.
The surrounding area is beautiful, but the campsites need more trees. Most campsites had no shade at all. When we arrived at our campsite, the fire pit was filled with trash from previous campers. Bath houses are very nice.
