Cyclist can enjoy these trails along with the challenging mountain bike courses in the Matthews State Forest or Westwood Park in Mount Airy. And we don't want to forget the motorcyclist that has hundreds of scenic miles to explore in the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounding foothills. If you're looking for a more laid back adventure, visit one (or more) of the award winning wineries located near the Parkway and along the Mountain Road Wine Experience. Listen to local musicians playing hand crafted instruments at the Blue Ridge Music Center, the Rex Theater, Earl Theater or during the oldest and largest bluegrass festival "The Old Time Fiddlers Convention". Go treasure hunting at the many antique shops and during the enormous Hillsville Gun Show and Flea Market over Labor Day weekend. Savor the taste of the mountains with fresh local produce at the many farmers markets and U-pick orchards. Recently, a guest left a message from their Memorial Day stay: "My stay was nothing short of phenomenal! This is no doubt the prettiest KOA ever. The staff was so very welcoming. Helen at the front desk was the sweetest person and now feels like an old friend. Plus it was very conveniently located to the Blue Ridge Pkwy, Mabry Mill, Meadows of Dan, and Chateau Morrisette Winery. I will be back for sure. In the words of Bob Hope, "Thanks for the memories." If you are road weary after a long day of traveling, just relax near the pool, enjoy some fishing in our stocked catch and release fishing pond, or get to know your neighbors at the ice cream socials on Saturday evenings during the summer. However you spend your time you are sure to make plenty of mountain memories at the Fancy Gap/Blue Ridge Parkway KOA. **If coming from the Blue Ridge Parkway please call for directions: (276) 728-7776.**
Love this KOA... Beautiful and quiet, friendly and helpful staff, extremely pet friendly with some RV sites having private gates areas for pets.
We rented a deluxe cabin. It was clean and had everything we needed in it. Ended up enjoying the area so much we stayed 2 nights. Caught several small bass from the pond. Great stay and super friendly.
