Imelda and Ramiro Estrella opened Estrella's Restaurant and Cantina in 2002. A strong family presence, great food, and a great dining atmosphere made the original Bonsall location a town staple. For years the family served the Bonsall community, but were forced to close their doors on May 29th, 2010 as part of an eminent domain to expand Highway 76. The eminent domain did little to deter the family's passion for cooking and serving high quality and authentic Mexican cuisine. After a year of spent searching for a new location and retooling recipes, the Estrella family re-opened their doors at their 129 E. Mission Road location in Fallbrook (between Alvarado St & Main Ave) on September 3, 2011.
