“hot springs with healing properties”
People have been going to hot springs for centuries; some in search of the eternal fountain of youth and others searching for cures for whatever ails them. The healing water of Chena Hot Springs has been compared to mineral waters found in hot springs in Bohemia. The water is composed of a variety of different, identified minerals. Many people believe that by bathing in the water, skin conditions such as psoriasis, muscular pains, and arthritis may be relieved. The water may be beneficial for some circulatory disorders and attract lots of people with bronchial disorders who claim the combination of steam and minerals provides breathing relief. Chena’s recorded history dates to the early 1900's but there is evidence indigenous people used the water as well. The water boasts usage by people throughout Alaska, the Lower 48 and International visitors and dignitaries from every corner of the globe. The waters are timeless but the resort began when weary gold miners discovered that soaking in the "oh-so-warm" waters helped their aching bodies. Chena Hot Springs Resort, founded over 100 years ago, has become the most developed hot springs destination in Alaska. World famous for it's legendary healing mineral waters, beautiful Aurora Borealis displays in the winter, renewable energy projects and Ice Museum, Chena Hot Springs Resort is a great destination for any time of the year. Visit Chena Hot Springs Resort and enjoy the healing mineral waters of the natural outdoor hot springs Rock Lake, outdoor hot tub, or indoor family pool. Relax and enjoy the waters while soaking and viewing the Northern Lights above when possible. Located scenic 60 miles outside of downtown Fairbanks, Chena Hot Springs Resort is an excellent place to view the aurora during the winter months. The Resort's remote location also creates a perfect environment for viewing wildlife up close. Visit the Resort's Activity Center and enjoy the many activities and services, and prepare for your next adventure. A variety of winter or summer activities are available depending upon the time of your visit. The Activity Center is also home to the "Shears to Chena" hair salon and the Aurora Café. Plan to tour the unique Aurora Ice Museum maintained by World Ice Art Champions, Steve and Heather Brice. A marvel of renewable energy engineering, the facility is operational year-round using the same geothermal energy that heats and powers the Resort.
The hot spring itself is very magical. However, we were disappointed because we were expecting to see the Northern lights from this place but we saw nothing.
This is an AMAZING place. We visited in March. It is one of those magical, once-in-a-lifetime expriences.
This place is a joke do to management not giving a dam about the pool and hot springs, I live in Fairbanks and the only reason I starter going last year is because the pool manager actually kept up the facility and listened to customers. The owner Bernie is a complete jerk I was in hot springs early in the morning this summer and could hear him yelling and treating his employees like trash. They fired there pool manager and ran him out of town because he wanted to make things better and Bernie would rather put ugly older airplanes on metals stilts in the air, who cares! I see airplanes in the air all the time why waste company money on that pos. DO WASH YOUR MONEY OR TIME
