“Suburban Chicago Black History”
Shorefront collects, preserves and educates the public about Black history on Chicago’s suburban North Shore. Shorefront's grassroots efforts began in 1995 with a core interest group. The group then went under the name "Through The Eyes of Us" until 1999, when we first used "Shorefront". In 2002 Shorefront was recognized as a nonprofit historical organization and installed its first board. In 2009, Shorefront moved from a basement apartment office space to a 1500 square foot space in a converted closed public school.
