“Point of Interest in Essex Junction, VT”
Nightmare Vermont is a thrilling, indoor, interactive haunted theatrical event which has run in underground spaces and as part of other community events since 2004 . Come see scrappy evil geniuses team up with community leaders to bring you Vermont’s most exciting and unique event. Nightmare Vermont works very closely with the South Burlington Rotary, a collection of business leaders who come together for the good of the community. The Rotary has helped fulfill Nightmare Vermont’s purpose of being a creative outlet for the weird and unusual in our community since our 2009 show. Proceeds from Nightmare Vermont go directly back towards helping our community through the Rotary Charities. You may experience intense audio, lighting, extreme low visibility, strobe lights, fog, special effects, and/or sudden physical actions. You should NOT enter a haunted event if you suffer from heart conditions, or are prone to seizures. No video or flash photography is allowed inside of the show without permission ahead of time. It’s distracting to both the actors and the audience. Nightmare is for mature audiences, and parental guidance is strongly suggested for anyone under 13. The event is not for young children, as there are scary moments, blood, mayhem, and adult language. Nightmare Vermont is a drug and alcohol free event. If we suspect you are intoxicated you will be asked to leave the premises. Management of this show reserves the right to refuse or revoke admission to anyone.
Not like other haunted houses, this is nearly an hour-long immersive theater experience. The acting is absolutely incredible for community volunteers and the story is completely new each year. Been going for years and always considered this a step above the run-of-the-mill "dark hallways where people in masks jump out at you" type of experience.
Nightmare Vermont is an interactive haunted house that has "cinema-level visual effects" as well as a wide array of spooky characters. This haunted house attraction is put on by the South Burlington Rotary, it's recommended that only people 13 years and older attend because "there are scary moments, blood, mayhem, and adult language." However, they also state that it's not "a gross-out slasher event", it's more of a fun show. It's also a haunted house with a heart, as proceeds go to benefit the community.
