“Crazy awesome musical junk shop”
***REOPENED*** Awesome crazy junk shop that is a MUST STOP. The owners Harley and Annabelle Russell (the self named "mediocre musicians"!) will show you around and quite probably blast a live performance at you! Visitors will find turn-of-the-century oak furniture, a variety of artwork, vintage musical instruments and a variety of objects both curious and fascinating
If I could give this place no stars I would. My mother and I entered and a redneck who owned the place immediately racially harassed her and sexually harassed me. Good riddance
Harvy is open to receive visitors again. My friends and I were there this morning (May 28th, 2015) and it was an amazing experience, a must stop if you are in the vicinity.
Cool shop and great place to stop. Once you exit the freeway, it's a short drive through town - can be there in just a few minutes from I-40.
I will never forget this place!! Made our trip ❤️wasn't what we expected but the experience was even better than what I had in mind. The fella is ornery but we loved it 😂
It was fun stopping by on an evening of last June, Harley was just about to close but when he saw 3 beautiful French women he re-opened the door hahaha! and he really MADE THE SHOW during at least 15 minutes! we had a wonderful time and made a video which I would like to send to him... Best wishes for him and his "housekeeper" as he said...
My daughter and I made this our first fun stop on our westward journey to school in CA. We met Harley and had so much fun wandering around inside and out. What a crazy, random fun place to stop, stretch your legs and snap some pictures.
we stopped on a sunday day afternoon and sadly it was closed. Still worth the awesome photo ops.
We tried to stop here (Summer 2017) but had no luck. The store was closed. Some reviews had said that he lives the area behind the store and to look for him there, but no luck. Honestly, it was a little more of a detour than we wanted to make and it didn't work out.
We first saw Harley on the Nomadic Fanatic's YouTube Channel when he met him early 2018 I believe, so we HAD to try and visit him as well. Harley and his Redneck Castle did NOT disappoint! He has an AMAZING collection of classic, retro signs and 'doo-dads' He was very friendly and welcoming showing us all around and encouraged photos and videos. We had a great family snap out front with an original R66 sign and he topped it all off by grabbing his guitar and treating us with his rendition of Get Your Kicks on Route 66!! He's not for everyone but we loved him!!
This place was fantastic!! When we pulled up the owner, Harley was just walking around the side of the building. He seemed a little gruff and told us that he could only give us 10 min but once we were inside he changed his whole demeanor. He encouraged us to take photos and even got out an original route 66 sign and took our photo with it. A couple women walked in right behind us and he did the same for them. He had us all sit down (there are a few chairs in a semi circle), grabbed a guitar and burst into a song about the road. It was quite an experience and he was so funny! He poked fun at us and danced around while playing his guitar. Afterwards he had us all come outside and took our photos again in the doorway with a large 66 sign. He explained that he had to leave but encouraged us to go behind the shop and see his "redneck castle and asylum". Such an amazing stop along this iconic route.
