We have now stayed here three times for 2-3 night stays. We were there in late November and still enjoyed Fall colors. We returned over Christmas on our way to Florida. We stayed a third time over the 4th of July. No fireworks!! Yay! The nearby swimming beach is clean and total sand so easy and safe to swim and cool off. We enjoy all the hiking trails. Short hikes of only 3-4 miles. My husband, a golfer, especially enjoys Arrowhead Point Golf Course located on State Park land. With internet coupons he can often play for as little as $28. We love that nearly all of the campsites have lake views too. Quiet and respectful campers. Just be aware that during football season this is in the heart of Georgia with a lot of football fans camping out with their TVs. It is 30 miles south of I-85, so you do have to make it a destination. Down sides: No Verizon Cell Phone Coverage, no WiFi, no working TV systems.

Smaller campground. The sites are large and clean. The loop road is narrow, so if you’re trying to back in or maneuver, anyone behind will have to wait and it can be somewhat difficult with longer rugs. Some pull-through a available. . The bathroom is dated and smelled of urine. I didn’t try the shower.
Most sites overlook Russell Lake, a fairly nice view.
We weren’t here long enough to do any of the hiking trails.

Really nice little campground on a gorgeous lake. I had a pull-through site at the end of the loop (28) and it was private and spacious. I was right next to the main campground road, but it wasn’t too busy at all. Just about 100 steps and I was at the boat launch. A pretty trek with a cup of coffee in the morning. Not a very level site; even after using all my blocks, I still wasn’t level enough. But most of the sites I saw—especially on the water—seemed pretty level. Pretty spacious suites, too. Nice, clean bathrooms. Convenient dump station on the way out with trash bin and water. Lots of BEAUTIFUL hiking paths that are well-marked. Beach area is gorgeous, with plenty of parking. This is another one of those Georgia parks that that sort of blew my mind. What a gem. Will definitely stay again. However, NOT when I have to work remotely—even with my WeBoost, my Verizon signal only teetered between one and two bars.

This park is a hidden gem. There is a very good golf course, disc golf, hiking and bike trails, cottages, beach, boat ramps and picnic areas with pavilions.

We had reserved a site on-line. Check in was easy. Make sure to ask for a cable box.

The pet friendly campground has 28 spots and sits on the lake with its own boat ramp and docks. All sites have power, cable and water, but no sewer. There are grey water dumps between every 2 camp sites. All have fire rings, tables and lantern posts. Some have large tent pads too. There is a bathhouse, but they were encouraging use of your own facilities due to COVID.

Most of the sites are on the lake side of the road, but even the ones one the other side can have a water view.

All but 27 and 28 are level. Those 2 sites are situated on an uphill slope. We talked to people in 28 and they said they couldn’t get level, but these 2 sites are large and are pull thrus.

We were in site 2. This is one of the smaller sites. While it was fine, there was a reason it was the only non-handicap space available when we reserved. The issue with this site are cross tie walls on both sides of the RV pad. We only have a 22’ trailer, but we could not take advantage of the depth because we couldn’t flip our steps down once we got to wall. Plus on the other side, our slide would have a close fit to that wall. Other than that, the site was fine.

Phone service for ATT is non existent in the campground, but you can pick up a signal around the golf course and the check in station.

We will definitely camp here again.

The rate quoted was for a senior discount, the same discount applies to vets. Space 2 is narrow and good for a Class C. Level gravel base. Water and 30 amp hookup. You need to be careful when parking so awning does not hit tree. The west side faces the lake and trees. The east side faces the road . This is our 3rd time at the park. Our preferred site is #3 but is was not available. Very clean bathrooms/showers and dump station. Boat rentals are available

We stayed in space #6 and loved it. I would have to believe that this is the premier pull through space in their campground. More space than I’ve ever had at any GA State Park in the last two years of camping (6 different locations). We could have had friends bring a tent and we would still would have space to spare! The deck side view of the campground was gorgeous over looking the lakeside trail and the water.

Only complaints…Verizon service was horrible and the provided cable could have used a few more channels (really wanted to watch the Daytona 500-no Fox affiliate on their cable).

Planning on making a return trip sometime in the future!

As Georgia residents who got into RVing two years ago, we’re trying to visit every state park and so far it’s been great. This park, while pretty, was truly awful. The campground is in a small, narrow, lake cove with sites close to each and the water. Despite this, the park does not enforce per site vehicle limits at all. Many had four and some even 5 pickup trucks. Tons of people per site. Also, there are no speed or wake restrictions in the campground’s cove so teenagers in jet skis ruled the day. You could not paddle, fish, or even enjoy your campsite as they are allowed to park the jet skis in front of your site. While some fishermen were slightly more respectful with their boats, they too parked wherever and reved their boats. So if you like to smell diesel and gas, hear jet skis, and be surrounded by pickups, this is your park. Also, hosts and rangers did not go by once, grounds are poorly kept (grass not cut, leaves not raked). Just a trashy park.

Beautiful, peaceful campground in the Fall. They do have a Veteran's discount which equates to approximately half-price. The campground in the park is on a loop with most of the campsites being lake-front. The sites at the beginning of the loop and the end of the loop are the most private. We stayed in site 4. The thing we liked about this site, is the side with the fire pit and picnic table is pretty private and has views of the lake. However, the other side is quite close to site 3. In walking around the park, site 6 seemed like a very desirable site. It is a pull-through site and is very private with great views. The park recently got rid of cable and they upgraded the internet. They now have strong Wi-Fi that is available throughout the campground making streaming of television possible. We did not have any cell service at this park, so were thankful for the Wi-Fi.
