“onion burgers are a must”
Robert’s is a museum-piece town café, El Reno’s oldest extant hamburger shop, going back to 1926. Starting at six in the morning, its fourteen-stool counter is occupied by regulars who come for coffee and eggs and home fries or – even at dawn – a brace of delicious onion-fried burgers.
This place was just what I'd hoped! Enthusiastic locals assured me I'd made the right stop and Ed the counter man served us up right and chatted us up like it was 1966. Take his advice and get the slaw on your burger!
We stopped for lunch on our way through town. Burger & BLT were fantastic, and the fries were outta sight! True diner delights.
I also loved that Robert is the guy running it, with help from his teenage son. Lots of locals came in while we were there, which tells me it’s a good place.
Stopped here as Sid's was closed on a Sunday, making our decision easier! A local suggested the onion burger & coney w slaw. I got the coney, hubby onion burger, daughter chili burger, son burger, plus fries & tater tots. Food was very good, fresh & tasty, plus cheap. The 2 young guys working the grill & counter were awesome, good service. I would have given 4 stars but...the bathroom (1) was very, very dirty & in disrepair, and there were lots of flies in the place. Would stop again, but restroom stop elsewhere.
This burger is life-changing. So good. Stop here—you won't regret it.
