“A trans national cafe!”
But by 1981, Julio’s was ready to jump the border and open its doors in El Paso, Texas, where it has continued the tradition of true, delicious Mexican cuisine and familial courteous service. Soon after the move to El Paso, the restaurant was passed along to the next generation, Francisco and Maria Orrantia. Now, the third generation carries on the tradition and a second El Paso location opened in 2010 at 3630 Joe Battle. The restaurant serves true home cooking. Pride is taken with each order, which is prepared individually and with loving care. In the early years with a staff of two, only Mexican food was served. Today the extensive menu includes Spanish, international and seafood dishes as well. Most of Julio’s recipes have been in the Ramirez family for generations. Some of the establishments’ favorite entrees are Filete Tampiqueña and Salpicon, with the number one specialty being “Mole Poblano,” a superb Mexican dish that dates back centuries. The Orrantia family and their staff welcome you to Julio’s restaurant and look forward to serving you the best in dining pleasure now and for many years to come
