“The best place to photograph the Gateway Arch and St. Louis Skyline!”
In January 2006, the East St. Louis City Council passed a resolution designating the property as a park/conservation area to help facilitate the project's development and preserve the land for years to come. The park's development has been largely funded through donations provided by the Gateway Center, valued at over $15 million, for both the park's development and its ongoing maintenance/operations. The Gateway Center continues to support major developments within the park, which today is not only home to the Gateway Geyser, but also the Mississippi River Overlook. The Malcolm. W. Martin Memorial Park officially opened to the public in the spring of 2009. The Mississippi River Overlook (MRO) stands 40 ft. tall on the west end of the park. Its tiered structure boasts stainless steel railings and architectural concrete. Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park is no doubt the best place to photograph the Gateway Arch and St. Louis Skyline! Many St. Louis postcards are captured by photographers from the MRO! It offers visitors marvelous views of the park and unprecedented views of the Gateway Arch, the Mississippi River, and the St. Louis city skyline. The park also provides passive open green space, ideal for play or picnics! Metro East Park and Recreation District owns and operates the park.
This is the spot for fun Arch pictures, especially if you are just passing through. Super clean and very well air-conditioned restrooms, too.
Great place to snap a pic but the surrounding area was super shady.
Nice view of the Arch, but in a sketchy industrial area
Great place to take a pic of the arch. Nice place to picnic. Cool little history lesson.
