“fun for the whole family”
Fun for the whole family, and yes, there's beer too. Running Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day, Snowbird's Oktoberfest attracts more than 50,000 visitors over the seventeen-day celebration. Over its 40-years, Snowbird's Oktoberfest has grown to become one of the largest festivals in Utah, and includes Oktoberfest Halle featuring the tastes of Bavaria with entertainment from local and national German bands and yodelers.
Founded in the winter of 1971, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Snowbird, UT combines Utah's longest season with legendary snow (an average of 500 inches a year), all within 45-minutes from Salt Lake City airport. Ride the iconic Aerial Tram to Hidden Peak for breathtaking views or take a trip through the Peruvian Tunnel, the first of its kind in North America.
I'd really wanted to make this happen this year, so we did. I wasn't too impressed. To start with the positive things - the scenery is fantastic. You look up to the surrounding and striking mountains as Snowbird's backdrop and feel like you might possibly be in the Alps. The beer was also great and there was more of a selection than Utah normally offers. That said, the food selection was extremely limited (and very overpriced, though that's probably to be expected), the artisans - excepting one or two - seemed to have hardly anything to do with Germany and/or Oktoberfest, and there wasn't very much entertainment. Still a fun afternoon, but expect not to want to stay too long. The smallest beer option is about $8, if I remember correctly.
