Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on July 29, 2022Located in the casino industrial fringe of Dubuque, right on the river as others note. I wasn't overly impressed. Site was so-so, fairly crowded and either restless campers or locals drove the road in front us us endlessly. One old beater Buick went by 5 times that I counted. Showers are FAR from campsites and were pretty gross (women's was so funky, my husb stood guard while I used the somewhat cleaner men's). Noisy, "stupid" campfires (the kind where rookies squirt lighter fluid on it and burn lumber). Not the best experience, after loving everything else about Dubuque so much. The river is kind of stinky. Some sites had nice shade trees and people looked settled in for days (if not longer), but the noise of barges, trains, trucks on overhead highway bridge nearby, and cruising car radios didn't make for a peaceful place. The camp host even blares loud commercial radio from his camper's external speakers at the office, which is luckily adjacent to the faraway showers.

This Campground is nice it's right on the Mississippi River you can see the beautiful bridge that goes between Dubuque Iowa and Wisconsin .the only downfall to this is when the Mississippi is too high this Campground can flood and they will shut it down.

We camped close to the entrance in the primitive camping area in our RV DIY Promaster camper van. We were about 20 feet from the water, had a great view of the bridge, and the campground was not very full. We used our folding bikes on the bike trails, and thought the $15 price was very reasonable. Happy trails from WanderingWakes.Net.

I really enjoy camping on the Mississippi. Perhaps having grown up two blocks from the riverfront in NOLA has something to do with that. Prior reviewers describe it well. I'd add that the reservation system is excellent! I made a reservation 1 hour prior to arrival with no problem and no online fees. With a reservation you can go straight to your site. Dump, water & wood available on the loop on the left as you enter. There are trains on the east bank. Considering proximity to Dubuque there are nearly no OTA channels. T-Mobile: 10 down, <1 up. AT&T: 40 down, 10 up.

This is a cool little park. It’s right on the river and is a no frills kind of place. Views are really cool, and it’s adjacent to the dog track/casino/hotel and restaurant. But, you’d never know if you didn’t drive past them on the way in. Sites could use a little TLC, but the view makes up for it. The sites are also pretty tight- the map really does a good job of showing the spacing. Our site was probably the biggest, but it wasn’t right on the water. It didn’t matter for our view! The barges went through and the trains pass on the other side of the river. Kinda cool. The bath house was functional and the showers were really hot. Nothing fancy by any means. The potable water hose laid on the ground all weekend- I wouldn’t drink the water that you fill with. There isn’t much to do here, except fish, bike/walk, small playground for kids, or watch the River boats. But, it’s a busy little campground, with the River and views. We spent most of our time exploring Dubuque- which was really fun! This campground is like a little hidden gem, right in the city.

City park, poorly kept, a lot of trash and smoke from small sites. Right on the river with a pleasant view.

We love the history of Dubuque and desired to stay and explore the community from this central location along the river. The park has the perfect view of the Mississippi River and the close proximity to the downtown area makes it almost perfect.
During our five day stay, we did not see a single patrol or park supervisor come through, there is no host to watch over any of the activities. Some of the locals got way out of control on Friday night and many were just passing through and bothering some campers.
The property was in need of mowing, and clean-up. The bathrooms and showers need attention, see through shower curtains in the showers are less then ideal and shower heads are missing.

There isn't a camp host, everything is done online either when you get here or ahead of time. The park is regularly patrolled by the park ranger. Each one we met was very nice and personable. Bathrooms/showers were clean except once when another camper trashed it, but was cleaned by next morning. The spots are close in sets of 2. One on either side of the power post. We rarely had anyone near us. Biking trail was very nice and well kept. There is dump and fresh water at the entrance. It's right on the river so makes for a great view first thing in the morning. It is gravel pads and most need a lot of leveling and is the onky reason I give a 4 star.
