“Feels like home, but you've never been”
Durango Mountain Resort is a mountain community that feels like home but is like no place you've ever been. An endless backyard filled with exploration, relaxation and excitment. A destination where wildflowers grow thick as grass, trails lead off into the sunset and family members come to reunite. A central ground between the quintessential Colorado mountain town of Durango and the uniqueness of the Four Corners Region. Durango Mountain Resort, also known by its former name Purgatory (known to the locals) is a ski resort located in the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado, 15 mi north of the town of Durango. It was originally opened in 1965 and offers 85 trails, including 2 terrain parks, the Paradise Freestyle Arena and Pitchfork Terrain Garden.
Didn't stay here but went to do the zip line and alpine slide. Zip line wasn't what I thought it would be but the Alpine slide was SO worth it!! I remember it being $10(?) and you took the lift up (AMAZING views behind you) and the ride down. Staff was so patient, kind, and moreover tons of fun. They felt like friends. I even chatted with them for sometime. They even let me mount my GoPro on my helmet to tape it all! GREAT experience and great footage!!! If you're in the area and have time to do the alpine slide or the other little neat activities (water ball walk, skiing, small wall climb, etc.) you totally should.
