“Home of the Timber Twister Rollercoaster!”
Spirit Mountain is a ski and snowboard recreation area in Duluth, MN. We were built in 1974 and since then have increased our number of trails by 78% and have tripled the size of our Chalet. In 2010 we expanded our recreation opportunities when we proudly built “Timber Twister”, the first Alpine Coaster in the Midwest! That was quickly followed in 2011 with the addition of the "Timber Flyer" Zip Line, a 9-hole Mini Golf Course, and a Snow Tubing Park... all of which make up the year-round Spirit Mountain Adventure Park. 2012 will bring the opening of a NEW Spirit Express II Chairlift, and we are scheduled to open a NEW Chalet on Grand Avenue in the winter of 2013, including a year-round restaurant known as the Riverside Bar & Grill. Then in the spring / summer of 2013 we are looking forward to opening the first of our downhill mountain bike trails. We are located just minutes from downtown Duluth and all of it's amenities, and as you make your way down our long and winding slopes you can enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Superior and the St. Louis Bay. We offer a variety of terrain for skiers and snowboarders alike, and host several races and competitions throughout the season. Spirit Mountain also boasts a full Calendar of Events so that no matter when you choose to visit us, you're sure to have a great time! We at Spirit Mountain like to think of our guests as family. Our goal is to ensure that each guest's visit is something they'll remember for a lifetime. We want each of you to leave Spirit Mountain with a smile on your face... every time! That means friendly service, less hassle in the parking lots and ticket lines, less time spent in lift lines, and more time spent on the great snow we have. After all, that's what you come here for... FUN! So when you start planning your next trip to Spirit Mountain, give our Guest Service Hotline a call at (800)642-6377 or locally at (218)628-2891. We'll help you get the information you need to plan an easy and enjoyable trip that you and your family will remember for a lifetime!

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on July 23, 2023We stayed at Spirit Mountain Campground during Grandmas Marathon weekend and had a great experience. There are a lot of sites, most are back-in sites but it looked like there were some pull-through sites as well. Sites have power and water and there is a dump station by the entrance. There are also several bath houses with free showers. Our site was dirt and grass, but level.
While the campground is a little pricey, it is conveniently located close to I35 and Duluth. If you’re coming during the marathon, the bus pick-up is just down the mountain! There are also some great hiking and mountain biking trails.

We've stayed here on and off for 30 years now. It's a nice wooded campground on top of the hill in Duluth. Easy on/off from Interstate 35 at the Proctor/Spirit Mountain exit. It's nothing spectacular but sure nice enough for us. We had a tent camper (pop up) for many years and now a 26' RV and they fit great here, lots of people tent camping as well. People are nice, it's a clean place with a fair amount of room between sites. It's on top of the hill before you go down to Duluth with all it's activities. there's some hiking here and you can always walk/bike over to Spirit Mtn... you're basically camping on the top of the ski mountain (ok, here in the Midwest we call them mountains...), so lots of hiking and mountain biking available) as well as the alpine slide (lots of fun) and other activities.

Wanted to post for those who may be working on the road. This is a nice campground on top of a mountain next door to a ski resort. The view of Duluth is amazing and there is a lot to do in the area. We had a magnificent time staying here. The bathrooms are dated but there are showers with hot water. Sites were all nice and spread out but some might have your door facing away from the fire pit and table so look for that. You also have to pay $5 per day per dog. We ended up paying about $45 per night.
I work remotely and need internet. Neither Verizon or ATT had more than 2 bars and it was not usable for virtual meeting. I couldn’t even get a preview of pdfs I was needing to view and attaching files to email was impossible. We have a booster and I use ATTs FirstNet plan and it still wouldn’t work. Since the other reviews showed 3 bars, we walked through the whole campground to see if it was just our spot…it was not. Everywhere had 1 to 2 bars and the highest speed we got was 3 download and 1.5 upload on both Verizon and ATT.
I do recommend staying here due to the close proximity to Duluth. The city was a huge surprise for us; we weren’t expecting so much to do and such a cute city. However, I would likely stay during a time I didn’t have to work.
