“forgotten to time”
This place is on private property. Listing for informational purposes only. Please do not visit without express permission from the land owner. The Roosevelt Warehouse was built in the early 1900's and is located directly next door from the Michigan Central Station . Initially it was used as a post office but when they decided to relocate, the Michigan Public Schools bought the building to hold there excess and future school supplies. In 1987 the Roosevelt Warehouse caught on fire, the fire and the water from putting out the fire damaged much of surplus supplies inside as well as some of the building. The Detroit Public schools then abandoned the building leaving everything from equipment for sports to crayons inside. Records from schools throughout Detroit dating back to the early 1900's were left there and the charred remains of many books were left behind. When investigated afterwards it is said that boxes of shiny new sealed textbooks and other school items were undamaged and simply just left behind.
