“full of native palm trees”
The canyons of the Indio Hills are home to high density population of the native California fan palms. Groundwater from the San Andreas fault provides the moisture to support this dense growth. Diverse palm groves in the canyon include Hidden, Pushawalla, Briska, Macomber and Horseshoe palms. The nearest groves are relatively easy to reach from the trailhead and parking area.
