“Experience Nature's Underwater Adventure”
The adventure at The Dallas World Aquarium begins at the top of the rainforest exhibit, where exotic birds, such as Cocks-of-the-rock and many species of toucans, can be seen. Lounging around are Two-toed and Three-toed sloths. Endangered animals, such as Orinoco crocodiles, Giant river otters, Antillean manatees and several species of monkeys are part of the many conservation projects. The aquarium portion displays interesting marine life, including Japanese crabs, jellyfish, Leafy, Weedy and Ribbon seadragons. Black-footed and Blue penguins can be seen swimming as guests enjoy the outdoor South Africa exhibit. Sharks, rays and sawfish are only a few of the fish living in the Mundo Maya cenote. Safe from Neotropical eagles, are euphonias, tanagers and hummingbirds. Reptiles and amphibians, both of significance to the Maya culture, can be seen throughout the exhibit.
This place is more rain forest than aquarium. Your path starts at the top (in the tree tops) and you work your way down to the (under) water. Very well done. If your in Dallas, and need an afternoon diversion, this place is awesome!!
This allows you to see so many more environments than I was expecting for an aquarium! You start at the top of the rainforest-like environment and move lower into great exhibits like the shark tunnel and outdoor penguins. I was also quickly converted into a manatee fan. Definitely check it out!
We visited Dallas for 6 days, and it was raining the 3 of these days. Therefore we were looking for a place to visit during one of these days, and this is how we ended up going to the Dallas World Aquarium.
To be honest with you, i couldn't imagine that Dallas would have an aquarium at all, and it was a great surprise when we visited it. The admission fee is relatively expensive ($20.95 for adults, $12.95 for kids) since we paid almost $70. But from the time we started walking around this huge place we were realizing that it was really worth it.
The aquarium gave me the impression of a huge man made indoors rain forest where you can find so many more animals that you would normally expect to find in an aquarium, such as a jaguar, exotic birds, monkeys, etc. The fish tanks are great, especially the one with the sharks. We were lucky, because we approached to it exactly during the feeding time which was a great spectacle to watch and i highly recommend you to do the same. A day before going there, check out their website for the feeding times.
A perfect place for the whole family, kids will love it! Just be sure you have plenty of stamina, since you will need at least 4-5 hours to visit most of the Aquarium. I would recommend you to avoid weekends, because it tends to get over crowded. Overall a must-see place in Dallas!!!
The admission is a bit pricey ($21 / adult), but one of the few attractions I have come across where one gets their money worth. In a nutshell the owner has turned a multi-story warehouse into an amazing wildlife / rainforest habitat. I am a fan of zoos and the Dallas World Aquarium provides one of the more immersive wildlife experiences.
I wouldn’t necessary call this an aquarium, more of a rain forest set up with a mix of animals from penguins, rabbits, turkeys, fish,.. etc. For the price I think you get your money’s-worth. We walked around it slowly in about 1.5 hours. There are a lot of neat animals you don’t see in other zoos/aquariums. A lot of birds. This would be a good place for a hot summer day.
Time well spent with my son. He loved the aquarium and penguins and everything. Worth visiting it.
Not bad if you need something to do for an hour and a half indoors.
Pretty expensive but the the animals are amazing and beautiful
This is a must see if you are in dallas especially with children. We absolutely enjoyed our visit.
