We randomly selected this campground when we say it was on our way, had one spot left over the weekend and had great reviews across the web. And it did not disappoint at all.

The Big Pine loops is really the only one that can accommodate RVs over about 25'... and there are only 10 sites. All are spacious pull-thrus with 50A electrical service, water and sewer (rare for a state park!). The weird thing is, the other loops are mainly tent sized sites, but also with full hook-ups.

The sites are all down a row, with half of them facing the lake and the other half facing the forest. Texas State Parks assign actual sites on a first come first serve basis - and we scored a lake front one. All of the sites are really nice however - but some are less level than others (ours was great).

If it's rained recently, the sites do tend to collect water which distracts a bit from the beauty.. but hey, it's nature.

The hiking trails in the park were not very well maintained - not well marked, and during our visit quite muddy. You can launch kayaks and paddle boats and explore by lake - but otherwise, not much to do in the park itself.

The town of Daingerfield is just a couple miles away, and is quite a pleasant surprise. We used to the opportunity to catch up on errands like laundry and grocery shopping, both very nice facilities. And the BBQ at Outlaw BBQ is some of the best we've ever had.

All and all, a great stay when crossing through NE Texas, and recommend stopping in if you can snag a site.

Used this as our inaugural trip with our new-to-us Airstream. The first site we were given was not level at all so we were able to switch to one better suited. We were away from the lake but it was pleasant. We arrived on a Friday am and the park was completely full by evening. Most people were just there for the weekend and it emptied out by Sunday afternoon. The park is very family friendly and it did get a little busy/noisy with all the families there. There is a sparkling little lake with canoes and paddleboats, a fishing dock, and a park store. There are also nature programs and kid-friendly events if you are interested in that.

Hiking trails went all around the lake and we enjoyed the views. The bath house was pristine, water nice and hot and pressure was good! Sites in the section we stayed in were pretty spacious.

The town of Daingerfield was right down the road so grocery shopping was a breeze. One thing I noticed specifically was how friendly and helpful everyone was at the store! Really nice people!

Another plus for the park is that firewood is available at the park office for a "donation"...no set charge, just whatever you want to offer!

Cell service was great but no Wi-Fi and no cable.

Camped in the Dogwood campground with a spot looking out towards the lake. Most campsites seemed level, with a few that were at an angle but looked to be for tent camping.

Most spots though had short paved drives. I had to park my truck sideways in the drive to get it out of the way of the park road. Anywhere you do choose in this campground, you will be a short walk to the restrooms.

I found the restrooms to be very clean with hot showers. There is no cost for the showers.

The park has a number of trails that are easy to walk. My family took the 2.5 mile trail around the lake and made it easily.

There is a store in the park that offers some basic supplies, t-shirts and other souvenirs. Firewood is sold at the park entrance. Town is only a few minutes away if you need additional supplies.

This is a great park and I will return.

The only criticism I had of this park is that there is a very active train track nearby. It seemed sometimes during the night that the train horns were nonstop as different trains passed the area.

Beautiful swimming area. Scenic lake views. Well maintained over all. Showers and rest rooms were immaculate, spacious, plenty hot water and shower heads were high enough for tall people. We only hiked a short distance on one trail but it was very nice and easy for older people like us. All sorts of water toys to rent. Wish we could have stayed longer but park was booked up. Pull thrus were spacious. Town was less than 10 minutes away for food and groceries . Friendly park ranger

First time here and picked one of the few remaining spots available as it was nearly packed. Dedicated pad for a large tent, water, grill, fire ring, lantern hook, and picnic table. Close to restrooms and hiking trails.

Our site was right on the lake and we called ahead only a few hours for a spot. Hot showers, pretty flat pads, fire pit, nice neighbors and great trails to walk. One neighbor did say their dog picked up a lot of ticks but I only saw one on me and one on one of our dogs. Just check yourself out.

Everything was beautiful. The bathrooms were clean, lots of trees good distance hiking trail. Only two negatives the trails were poorly marked and apparently we came on a bad day which was a Wednesday and it was clean up the park days so for four hours all you could hear was the leaf blower. But that will not stop us from coming back again.

Our first visit to Daingerfield was cold, rainy, and wet- but we loved it none the less! We stayed in site 27, which has pros and cons. It’s next to only 1 other site, but off a main road and tricky to back in a larger trailer (ours is 31’) due to the narrow road. The pull through spots/area looked great. Great hiking trails here and a beautiful spot to see fall foliage!

We visited DSP Dec 4-6, 2020, about a month too late to see the best fall color. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful quiet park, with tall pines, mature hardwoods and excellent walking trails surrounding the picture perfect lake. I walked the Mountain View and Rustling Leaves trails. Both are well marked and easy to follow. Didn't use the showers, but the restroom buildings with flush toilets appear to be new and are first class, relative to the other state parks that we have used. We parked our 27' trailer in slot #34 of the Mountain View area, the only site available for Fri-Sun stay when we booked it a week before our visit. The pads on this, downhill, side of the loop are very un-level, and ours was also very eroded. (See pics.) The loop road is pretty narrow, so all that would make it a little dicey for me to back in a longer unit. All sites are full hookup, but our sewer connection was so far uphill that it was impossible to use. Fortunately we were able to hold our black water (Hold it, hold it!) until we left, so could pull out onto the road, hook up, and dump. There is no separate dump station in the park, AFAIK.
