“Yabba Daba Rushmore!”
The Flintstones™ Bedrock City
Theme Park & Full-Service Camping Resort. We’re located in the beautiful
Black Hills in Custer, South Dakota.
Flintstones Fantasies come alive in this modern Stone-Age setting of fun-filled buildings and play areas. Tour Fred's Bedrock City. Ride the Flintmobile and Iron Horse Train. See Mount Rockmore and enjoy the new Flintstone Trio Show. Then romp on the playground's Slideasaurus.
Stay in our campground and enjoy the view, with our open meadow hilltop location. This full-service facility accommodates everything from tents to full RV hook-ups to camping cabins.
They are closed, building was sold. The gift shop was open with a few items on clearance, they let us take some photos in the gift shop but you couldn't see the theme park displays
We were able to stop in the last day - the gift shop was open but the entire park was closing (after 50 years) because the property had been sold. The people were wonderfully sweet but this could be something different next time you see it since Bedrock City was closing down. :(
I was somewhat disappointed with this stop, the people here are super friendly and great, but the park is somewhat run down and quite a bit more museum esque than amusement. They have a playground that is large but I wouldn't have paid the entrance fee for it. It's the old play equipment and kind of thing I would have let older kids play on but defiantly not great for my toddlers.
I looked forward to Bedrock more than Mt. Rushmore. It was so much fun. The drive in had good food and the photo ops are everywhere. If you like the Flintstones you should go. We stayed about 2 hours with lunch. Great for kids.
This was a great day trip attraction for our two little ones. Adorable, simple, and had a real old times charm!
Sad to read this news. My Family were the first to stay at this facility in 1968. It wasn't quite finished yet, but because the sun was going down and we were in the middle of nowhere back then, the security guard watching the construction site let us stay. I have a vivid childhood memory of it. The real sadness is that we're taking a Black Hills/Mt. Rushmore tour this June and I was hoping to share that memory with my younger children. BTW - my wife also happened to stay here in 1978. We both have fond memories. Too bad.
Not worth the trip here! I didn't camp here, just came to see the "park'. they charged $5 to go in an although the sights look great upon entering, a closer look shows run down attractions. They really need to fix the attractions!!
For the cost of this camping location, I would look elsewhere. The pool is small, and their are no onsite fire rings for those with RV's. The town is close, it just did not seem to be worth the cost. Facilities were lacking and the cost of wood and other sundries was a bit salty!
