February, 2019 Edit:

Unfortunately, this campground is no longer "affordable." I just checked again because we are planning a return trip to Connecticut, and it now appears that the daily rate has jumped to a whopping $60 per night - for water/electric only - and weekly rates are $325 or $46 per night, and they no longer accept Passport America at all. Those are just obscene numbers for a campground in the middle of Connecticut - not exactly a "thrill-a-minute" state - no sewer service, "meh" showers, and a dump station that is unusable for big rigs.

I wrote about some of these downsides below in my original 2016 review, but for $22 per night, it was all fine and good. For $60 per night, it is not fine, nor is it good. For $60 per night, they need full hook ups. Period. And if all you offer is W/E, then you need a dump station that can fit any rig and honey wagon equipment that doesn't have leaks (and that pumps out both gray and black. As it is, they tell people to just dump their gray water on the ground, which is gross). And even with all of that, the nightly rate should maybe be in the $30 or $35 range (only because east coast campgrounds are stupidly expensive... anywhere else it would be about $25.) Anyway, unfortunately, it seems they ruined a good thing.

2016 Review:

We recently spent 9 nights here while visiting family in the area. There are a number of things that make this place a great campground. First, they honor Passport America any day of the week, which is awesome, because it made our stay incredibly affordable. Second, the folks that work there are really nice. They were friendly, helpful, and obviously interested in making sure their guests were taken care of. Third, the sites were well spaced, heavily treed (which we like) and there was a nice lake on the property.

There are a lot of seasonals throughout the campground, but most sites were well kept. The majority of transient folks seem to only stop for a night or two on their way elsewhere. We basically had our whole area to ourselves for a couple days.

The only minor dings are that there is no sewer service available at the sites. They do have a dump station, but it won't easily fit big rigs like ours. For that they have a weekly honey wagon service. The guy was nice, but there were some equipment problems during the dump, and lets just say, it was kinda gross. The other ding for us is the showers. While they were clean, there was no private area to change outside the shower room. It was just one small shower area. I'm not crazy about changing in front of people or leaving my bag out there or whatever else. It would be great if they improved their shower facilities a bit.

Anyway, these are minor dings. Overall, we were very happy with our experience there and will definitely be back in the future. If you're just looking for a quick place to stop for a night or two on your way through New England, and if you have PA, it is really pretty perfect.

We cannot say enough about this amazing campground. Our Sprinter van broke down nearby and we ended up staying 4 nights unexpectedly. The owners bent over backwards helping us out, they were just wonderful. The campground is lovely and very well maintained. Sites are wooded and private and the lake is beautiful. Very conveniently located just off I-84. We will definitely return to stay again and would recommend to anyone.

We stayed here both on the way to Maine, and then on the way back to VA. It is located right off the highway and was a welcomed respite from the road!
Very nice campground with amazing amenities. My daughter loved the beach and I loved the view! Owners are super helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended!
