Lost Burro Campground

Arrival was easy... just a small jaunt off the paved road.

Bring your own water as the water here may or may not be potable. There were boiling notices during our visit.

large generously spaced camp sites... ports-potty's in a playground area... small gift shop run by a few permanent residents.

we picked a remote site far from others and enjoyed it even more when our closest neighbor pulled out. This is a known good campsite for motorcycle groups... so keep that in mind.

We are new to RV camping but were quite overwhelmed by the number of people that were actually living in their campers (full time not just a month) at this location. Several campers had obviously been parked there for a long time with trash, tarps, barking dogs and several vehicles around them. However, after interacting with a few of the residents we did feel safe and the hosts were very accommodating and helpful. The view is beautiful if you ignore the trashed campers. The sites are spread out and not cramped and include picnic table and fire ring. Women’s bathrooms were ok but men’s were pretty bad. No potable water at site and they state this. We deduced that this place was recently sold and used to be cute and maybe better cared for but current owners have allowed numerous permanent residents to take over.

We stopped in on our way to cripple creek from Colorado Springs but didn’t stay. Rough road in, no cell reception and run down. Keep going. We ended up at Cripple Creek Hospitality and Travel Park. It’s excellent!
