Welcome to Fort Crevecoeur. We are a not-for-profit organization and privately owned park, funded by private donations, our campground, and special fundraising events. We are dedicated to the education and preservation of the French heritage of Central Illinois. Come browse our site, learn the history of Fort Crevecoeur, find out what is going on, and enjoy. The area itself is comprised of 89 acres. On our grounds we have a park opened year round with limited access in the winter months, fully operational campground with water/electric/dump station, several hiking trails, two picnicking pavilions, and a play ground. Also, we have a large state nature preserve which surrounds the park, playing host to many native Illinois plants and animals. Our full operational season runs from April 1st through October 31st, where one can enjoy a relaxing day at the park, visit the museum, get a taste of our rich history, and enjoy many other outdoor events. We have plenty of space to play host to your next wedding, family reunion, or group picnic. Our two pavilions are available for rent, for information on reserving one or both of the pavilions contact the park office.

Stopped for a quick lunch. There is an “old school” type playground, which I generally love to see and my kids enjoyed. We had lunch on a nice covered patio with newer picnic tables. The only issue was that they had a lot of bird droppings on the tables so we had to clean a bit and watch what we where we put our stuff. We totally missed going into the museum, but we did drive back to the replica fort. Was neat to see and imagine how one must have looked. Nice stop overall, and way better than a drive through window for our roadside lunch.
