“hanging bridge”
Originally built for students to cross the river. Foot and bicycle traffic only and is accessed from Madison Avenue or South River Road. At least the fourth bridge of its type built at this location.
Closed to cycling and foot traffic until repairs can be made.
Does the bridge still swing? We had so much fun on it on my way to school in the mid 70's! :)
We found one bridge but not sure if this was the swinging bridge because it was less then 1/2 mile. If it was the swinging bridge it was a disappointment. But the path was beautiful and we picked wild blackberries. It was an adventure!
Located a half-mile upstream from Centennial Bridge, Swinging Bridge was built for foot and bicycle traffic and was mostly used by children crossing the Coast Fork to get to school. The present bridge is at least the fourth built on this site. Earlier versions of the bridge could be made to swing side to side - hence its name!
