“fantastic stay on the arkansas river”

A stay at this KOA puts you on one of the most popular stretches of the Arkansas River for fly-fishing, kayaking and whitewater rafting. The first weekend in April, the campground hosts the annual Royal Gorge Anglers fly-fishing school. From mid-April through mid-May, an amazing caddis hatch produces incredible dry fly action. Local whitewater rafting guides can put you on a raft through tame stretches of water near KOA or take you for a wild ride through Royal Gorge, 23 miles east. Swimming, hayrides, a game room and mini golf keep kids smiling. Everyone will love the art shed and craft classes. Enjoy the Patio RV Sites (overlooking and near the river) with concrete patios, fire rings and patio furniture, or the upgraded Tent Site with its own deck overlooking the river. Or stay in the Loma Linda Motel (duplexes with private baths, some with kitchenettes). You're near the old mining town of Cripple Creek and Royal Gorge Route excursion train. Pool: Memorial Weekend – Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 65 feet.

We registered a couple of hours before arriving. The office is only open a few hours a day and registration is at 2 but the office hours are 3-5...We went and rang the bell at the night registration window across the parking area. He put us in site 48. We pulled in and a large tree was obstructing our slider and there was no way to position ourselves far enough away from the tree. So we went back and asked to move to site 49. It took the desk lady a long time, but she checked to see if anyone had specifically requested 49 and there was no paper or computer trail stating they had. So we moved to 49. We went to town had dinner and came back and around 755 the lady knocked at our door and told us we had to move because other people wanted 49. She didn't offer us a different site. She didn't apologize. Just told us to move. So we left the campground. There are a LOT of full timers in this park. The dog park was HUGE and lovely. The campground brags about being on the river but we couldn't find a way to get to the river. The banks were very steep. There is NO cell signal...as in X over the bars. And the campground wifi is non functional....
