Roswell UFO Crash Site

Property recently sold and is not available to the public...Don't put it on your trip unless you confirm ahead of time that it will be available.

We braved the drive, not quite sure knowing if we'd get to the "crash site". It is quite definitely a desolate road that seems infinite through which you have absolutely no cell reception. It is a scenic drive, with beautiful distracting views, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

As with any driving of back roads and adventuring, make sure to prepare before venturing out.

- Go out with a full tank of gas, and make sure to have a spare gas can, just in case.
- not an excursion to be taken alone
- A drive to be taken during the day (drove out closer to sunset and it is not advisable)
- Keep an eye out for wildlife, especially jack rabbits as they run out and speed across the road.

*** The site description recommends to have a 4x4 or any vehicle that can trek safely through harsh dirt roads. This becomes true once you finally reach the a white sign that read "Corona…." Although I had no cell service my GPS was able to lead me to this point, after the dirt road began, through which the GPS indicated it was about a few more miles out to the site. We braved it out in my Hyundai Accent, but only up the sign since the roads seemed too harsh.

Unless you are traveling in an appropriate vehicle for this "mission", perhaps this is one site you might consider skipping.

Heard from my connections that the road sign which used to point towards the crash site is no more... this means if you want to check out the site you are going to need a GPS or compass or some kind of alien spidey sense.

I went out there by myself in May 2017. I arranged permission to enter the ranch via Don Schmitt, founder of the Roswell UFO Museum; although there are no “No Trespassing” signs on the gate. It takes about 1.5hrs to drive out there from Roswell, the roads are great, even the dirt ones with the exception of the last mile. You don’t necessarily need a 4x4, just something that will have good ground clearance, I had a 2x4 Nissan Frontier, the large wheels made it easy to get over the rocks on the last mile of the trail; you can always walk it.
There is cell reception in certain areas of the site, I even did a live FB video; it is very spotty though. I noted the areas of cell reception just in case I needed to make a call. I would also recommend some kind of GPS tracker like a Spot, that way you can have a programmed message if you get in trouble or just to check in with someone to tell then you’re ok.
It is an incredibly desolate quiet place despite a few cows and farm buildings you’ll see in the distance. I spent about 3 hrs walking the site and collected some soil to take home. It was very windy.

My husband and I decided we would search for this supposed spaceship landing to see for our selves. After talking to locals and calling around we were granted access to the location about 16-18 miles out of Corona. It’s a long drive down a dirt road till you actually find the turn off on a unkept road. It is fenced and gated and you need permission to enter before entering. We had gotten ahold of a very nice old lady who granted us access and told us to have fun. Whatever situation this area use to be in it is not like that now but be respectful and ask before entering.
Before searching for this crash site you need to

-have a full tank of gas
-bring food and water
-a 4x4 type vehicle is recommended (we did it in a 4 door sedan)

I’ve decided I will not give information because a quick scroll online will give you all the information you need and I will not ruin the fun of the discovery.

It's on private land, couldn't access

Can someone tell me the alternate route through public land, please?

Last October we included a trip to the UFO skip site and monument site on our honeymoon. I drove my GMC pickup but an automobile with decent ground clearance should be okay for the drive. We traveled about thirty miles south of Corona on CR B007 and parked along the road. We then hiked due east to the location of the SYFY monument and the stone obelisk. We were disappointed to find that the obelisk had been destroyed and the monument removed. We then hiked south-west to the Brazel debris field, which is the actual site that the debris was found. I used the metal detector and found wire but nothing exotic.
The entire area is on BLM property and open to the public, I contacted their Roswell office who provided a map, coordinates, and document explaining their policy on artifacts found on the property. Dinwiddie Cattle Co. owns the ranch adjacent to the skip site but does not own the actual skip or monument site, but does own the Hines house on CR B001, which has been razed, and the windmill location. I asked for permission to access their property but didn’t receive a reply.
I do hope to make this trip again and spend some more time visiting the site. If you have the chance, it’s definitely a beautiful, interesting and historic place to visit.
