“excellent eagle-watching!”

Rasar State Park is a 169-acre camping park with 4,000 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Skagit River. Wildlife observation opportunities, especially for eagle watching, are excellent, particularly in early fall and early winter.

Darn near perfect family campground. Outdoor movies, Jr. Ranger program, lots of trails for hiking and biking, sandy beach, woodsy campsites and the most breathtaking views around every corner.

We stayed at Rasar in February, well before the regular tourist season. As a result, the campground had plenty of open sites. Arrival was simple and easy. The ranger saw us pull up and came over to help us register and buy some firewood. He was very kind and helpful.

Sites are spacious and relatively private, with lots of trees and shade, fire rings and picnic tables. Many spots have both water and electric, though none have sewer. There, however, is a dump station on the way out. Potable water is also available.

We loved the walking trails that will take you to the banks of the Skagit River where you may see eagles, and an open field where people frequently report seeing elk. We saw neither on our trip, though there were plenty of birds, even in February. We also appreciated that from here we could easily drive East into the North Cascades National Park.

Site #6, which we used, was a very nice spot. However, the site curves a bit, which makes it just a little tricky if you're backing in a trailer. (A more experienced RV camper probably would not have had any trouble.) #6 cannot be reserved, so if you get into this spot you can stay as long as park rules allow.

Bathrooms, though a bit dated, were clean and in good condition.

We loved it here and would definitely stay again. Check our blog for photos and further comments: http://www.casarocinante.com/Blog/Rasar-State-Park-Feb-2015

One of our favorite places to camp. We stayed during November so it was self check-in with our reservations. This quiet campground is in the Skagit River Valley with easy access to the river. One of the things I enjoy is the accessible trail from the day use area down to the rivers edge. This is a well maintained paved trail. This is a great place to observe the many Bald Eagles that frequent the river during the winter months. A large heard of local Elk can also be seen in the area.

Many of the site have 30 amp hook-up with water the rest being dry camping. Most of site are in the trees so if you are depending on solar you won't get much here. There is a convenient dump station near the entrance. The day-use area is nice and has a nice playground for the kids. The bathrooms are clean and do have showers. We have always found the park to be very clean and well maintained.

The park is near Baker Lake and all of it's many attractions from boating to miles of hiking. We also enjoy going to the 5B's Bakery in the nearby town of Concrete.

At just 90 minutes from downtown Seattle (well, plus traffic of course), this is a great place to escape to a beautiful forested setting without having to travel so far. Very forested feel, many miles of meandering trails, easy access to the river, bike-riding allowed on trails, and TWO playgrounds. Bathrooms were very clean and well-maintained. Note that they turn off the water in "winter", an in late Feb it still wasn't on.

While we were here, a ranger came by with a nice Junior Ranger activity, with an extra bonus: A nice wood Junior Ranger badge like the national parks have. Turns out the rangers from nearby Rockport State Park do this, so we hustled out there and got a second awesome wood Junior Ranger badge :) Rockport has great hiking among an old-growth forest too, which is really special.

Town of Concrete is nearby, with an excellent bakery, and a library with Fortnite-playing child-approved WiFi.

A great State Park close to Anacortes and I5. The park was gifted to the state about 20 years ago so it's one of the most up to date and well planned out state parks in Washington. There are 30 or so camp spots with about half having partial hookups. The space between sites is very good and the woods add even more coverage. There are easy walking trails in the park where you can explore the big field, walk in the woods, or stroll along the Skagit River. There's also a dump station.
BONUS: it's a 40 minute walk to the Birdsview Brewery.
We stayed here for free with our All Access Pass.

It’s a nice campsite overall, but not worth the money! It’s $30 per night for “standard” site. The “economy” sites are 5 less, and the “premium” sites are 5 more. In order to camp here you also need the Northwest Forest Pass which tacked on an additional $10 dollars per day! I mean the bathrooms are nice, but the price is still steep. I checked out a little campsite on Grandy Lake a few miles from here, it was much cheaper, but it was full. I must add that I do have 3 bars of Verizon LTE which is blazing fast. If you’re in need of a place to stay for the night, consider a hotel before staying here.

When our primitive camping spot on a nearby lake didn't work out, we were lucky enough to find a spot here. Since it was the middle of July, everything was sold out - except space 29. Apparently, they leave this as the only first-come, first-served spot. If you get the spot, you can have it for up to 10 days. The only caveat is that you must fill out a new registration slip each day by 1 pm.

The outer loop is mostly large pull-throughs with lots of privacy, a picnic table and fire ring (with grill). The inside loop is a mix of single and multi-unit spots. Lots of families were taking advantage of the latter. The bathrooms were standard State Park facilities with above average showers ($0.50 for 3 min).

Great trails throughout the park and across the street through the group camp areas. Easy access to the river.

Amenities nearby are limited, but you can get mostly what you need in the town of Concrete. Otherwise, the town of Burlington is about 30 minutes away and has everything. There is a nice little brewery up the road makes some good beers. They have a lunch/dinner menu with mostly burgers and other bar type food.

Marginal cell service (even with a booster) and the price ($32 without hookups) is what keeps this from being a 5 star spot.

We stayed in two different sites during our visit - a serviced (water/electrical) the first night and a non-serviced site the next three nights. Both sites were easy to get our little Casita into. Both sites were very private and nicely shaded. There are many trails throughout the park, and it was a great place to explore the beautiful Northern Cascades from.

The restroom facilities were well maintained, and it may be one of the best WA State parks we’ve stayed in so far. It’s a newer park - built in 1997. There is a dump station on site.

It is expensive to stay in a State park here in WA, but we have found the amenities sometimes worth it. The serviced site was $45 per night and the non-serviced site was $32 per night. There is an additional $8 on-line booking fee, on top of the nightly charges.

Highly recommend, and we will stay there again!

My wife and I love Rasar. There are a variety of trails onsite. The sites are nice and wooded. Good separation between them. The entire place is well cared for. No full hookups but there is a dump station on-site. You’re not far from town, either, in case you forgot anything. There is a local brewery nearby, too. Cell reception is okay (1-2 bars) with TMo.

One of the nicest State Parks we have stayed in. Sites are generous and facilities look like new and are excellently maintained. Nice walks and places to sit by the river. Beautiful trees and undergrowth. A great place to stop after coming across N Cascades Hwy going east to west. However, the mosquito season was in full force when we were here in late July. Made it impossible to enjoy the campsite so we escaped to the river bank.
