“america the beautiful!”

You don't have to go far to get away.  Cheyenne Mountain State Park is nestled in the landscape that inspired the song, “America the Beautiful.”  Enter this park and marvel at the mountains above and the Colorado Springs skyline below. Meander and explore amidst nature’s diversity with prairie-to-peak ecosystems and 20 miles of hiking and biking trails.  Stop by the visitor center for information, a little shopping, and educational exhibits or just to relax by the stone fireplace and the wall of windows.   We have an amazing 1680 acres to explore.  Years of thoughtful planning went into the park and visitors can now enjoy recreational opportunities year round.  The park offers top-notch environmental education programs, from guided bird hikes to Jr Ranger programs.  Click here for this month's calendar of programs and events. The campgrounds are open with 51 full service sites and 10 walk-in tent sites. We also have the Prairie Skipper and Prairie Falcon Group Event Facilities available to host your next event.

A great - small - State Park. We have stayed her multiple times and we will come again. Very clean, modern and the camp spots are large. No shade to speak of, so prepare accordingly. You can spy on NORAD while you are there as it is litteraly a stones throw away. 20 miles of well laid out and marked hiking/biking trails. Not in the heart of COS, but very close to everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

Absolutely fantastic park & campground! It was beautiful. Perfectly maintained sites with area for camper and tent if you like. My husband said the site was incredibly level for connections - best he’d ever seen. There were stairs behind the campsite that led to a really cool area with 3 picnic tables for a group or family get together. Then behind that were trails leading up to a great area where you can play games or let the dog run wild! In the evening the campground was very peaceful and amazingly at 5pm we heard Taps played from, I’m assuming, the Air Force establishment nearby. Definitely want to go again and stay longer!

I spent four hours here and didn’t want to leave. It’s so peaceful and the trails are great. Go early in the morning on a weekday and you won’t run into anyone for a couple hours. Only $7 entrance fee good for 24 hours

Mountain biking and hiking all in front of a gorgeous mountain. I went when there was so much snow on the ground you couldn't see your feet but it worked out well. Spent a few hours wandering and there so some geocaches to find.
